We all have experienced times when Satan has tried to infiltrate our garden. His desire is to steal, kill and destroy the harvest that God has given you. According to John 10:10, “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy”, Christ came that we may enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows. God has given you the authority and the right to take back everything Satan has stolen from you.
Whether the enemy has tried to infiltrate your thoughts, your home, your family or even in your workplace or business, when you are in Christ, He is your defender and rewarder. Christ has come to give you life more abundantly and that includes health, financial sufficiency, peace, purpose and everything that God’s Word promises. So when the enemy tries to infiltrate your garden, your place of dominion, remind yourself of God’s Word and of His Promises.
What Did God Say?
“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” (Genesis 3:1)
Whenever the enemy tries to rear his head, by feeding you with false promises, remember what God has said. In fact, rehearse what God has spoken and declared over your life.
What has God written on your heart? What has He declared over your family? When Satan tries to infiltrate your heart, in an attempt to override what God has already declared, you must seek God and constantly speak His Word over your life. Align your heart, thoughts and words with God’s Word. Say what God says.
When you rehearse what the enemy wants you to believe, you’ll abandon what God has declared. Don’t abandon what God has already spoken over you. Stay in agreement with what God’s Word declares. Repeat to the enemy what God has declared and obey His Word. Choose to obey God over fear. Choose to obey God even when it seems difficult. Choose to obey God even when it’s not the norm to do so. Wash your heart with God’s Word.
Bread Alone Isn’t Enough
“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
When you choose to obey God’s Voice over the enemy’s opinion, you’re choosing to feed yourself God’s Promises instead of the enemy’s curse. When the enemy comes into your camp, in an attempt to frustrate you or destroy your harvest, you must talk back to the enemy by using God’s Word instead of the enemy’s opinion.
Even if you’re in a wilderness season of your life, Christ shows us in Matthew 4:4, how to handle the enemy even when you’re in the wilderness: “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
When you’re in a wilderness season, your body and your emotions may want to respond one way, but as you submit to God’s Word allow His Word to tame your heart. Respond how God wants you to respond. Read and digest God’s Word and allow Him to tame your heart and tongue. Seek His Word and say what God says in times of trouble.
Your flesh must die when you’re in the battle of your life. Your responses are critical to your success. Allow God to lead you and heal you. Let God’s Word satisfy you and direct your path. He wants to lead your heart. Let Him redirect you. God is with you and He is for you. Trust God even in the wilderness.
The Promises of God are not an illusion or a mirage, God’s promises are fixed and true. Stay focused. Stay the course and don’t turn to the left or the right keep the course.
Your Words Have Life
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” (Proverbs 18:21)
It’s your choice to choose words that propel your destiny or block your purpose. You can inadvertently speak curses over your life through fear, doubt, worry and anxiety. You can choose life or death, success or defeat. It’s your choice to accelerate forward in God’s direction or you can stumble and fall backwards clinging on to the past.
God wants His best for you. He wants you to move forward in Him. It’s your choice to allow God’s Word to lead your heart and allow Him to direct your motives and actions. You can choose to stagger and stay stagnant in fear by speaking death and defeat over the vision that God has given you or you can speak life allowing God to redirect your course. When you speak words of defeat you feed fear and give it room to grow and occupy in the space where faith needs to flourish.
Speak life. When challenges arise, navigate your course by saying what God says. Pray more. Seek His Face more. Let God direct your course. He’s given you power, through His Word, to overcome and defeat every challenge the enemy tries to throw your way.
The Waves of Life
“Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.” (James 3:4)
Your words trigger promises and navigates the course of your life. Even in the storms of life, your words are the helm of your life’s course and propel you through the rough seasons of life. With God’s Word it’s your choice on how you handle the storm when it comes.
Are you going to allow the storm to overtake you? It’s your choice to allow the waves of life to sink your boat or to overcome the cares of the world by utilizing the Word of God. Equip your heart with God’s Word and let Him lead your ship. The waves of life do not have to overtake you. Your choice is found in Him. Your peace is found through His Word.
It’s your choice to be overtaken by the storm or to be lead by God’s Word. Let Him lead you through the storm and the waves of life. Your life belongs to Him. The waves are under His control and His command. Turn to God.
The Motives of Your Heart
“[Or] you do ask [God for them] and yet fail to receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your intention is [when you get what you desire] to spend it in sensual pleasures.” (James 4:3)
When the enemy tries to infiltrate your heart and sow seeds of doubt that corrupt the ground of your heart you must choose to pluck up the poison the enemy tries to plant in the ground of your heart. When you seek to please God instead of seeking to fulfill the lust of your flesh, you choose to build with God instead of battling against God. Are you building your life with what pleases God? Or are you seeking to satisfy people? Who are you seeking to please? God or man? Submit your heart, thoughts and ways to God and He will direct your path. Choose God.
Crush Every Idol of the Past
“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)
It’s your choice to choose God and crush the idols of your past. Satan tries to get us to dethrone God off of the throne of our heart. Whether it’s a person, place, thing or ideal that we’ve erected higher than God, you must choose to crush it and serve Christ.
You may have exalted your spouse, or a loved one higher than God. You may have exalted your education higher than God. You may have elevated your net worth or personal network higher than God. Choose to serve God and not the idols or the stuff that you’ve accumulated. When you weigh anything higher than God you’re choosing to raise up an altar that’s equal or higher than God.
Choose to serve God instead of raising up altars. The soil of your heart is precious territory to the enemy. He wants to take root in an attempt to get you to hide behind a false identity instead of worshipping God. Adam and Eve fell and hid behind trees and fig leaves, what are you hiding behind? Choose to talk back to the enemy and declare God’s Word over your situation and move forward in God’s promises.
