Successful journalist Paula Faris leaves ABC News to entirely focus and pursue God’s purpose for her life, saying, “my purpose is truly to love God, love people, and shine my light.”
Paula Faris Leaves A Fascinating Career
Paula Faris was the news anchor and host of shows like “Good Morning America Weekend” and “The View.” She had a fascinating career, and her broadcasting success in the industry was evident. But the time came when God called her out from that place to pursue a different mission. And that is to fully live out her mission to “love God” and “love people.” It’s the mission Jesus said in Matthew 22:36-40:

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.’”
The Struggle
Paula left her successful anchoring gigs to pursue her calling with deep conviction. However, she admits how hard it was to leave the industry. She struggled and wrestled with God on “why she would be called into something and then suddenly called out of it.”
“I completely wrestled with it and I was very angry,” she recalled. “It was like, ‘Why, God, did you call me to do this?’ Because, again, I was buying that lie that I had to do one thing for the rest of my life. And I was buying the lie that I was created to do one thing.”

Following God
But in the end, her desire to follow God overtook her feelings, and she decided to follow God’s leading. Hence, she walked away from her TV career and moved in another direction. And since then, she hasn’t looked back.
“My own personal experience, I forgot what I was doing and who I was doing it for. And it became more about the accolade and the achievement in the spotlight and the accomplishment,” Paula remarked. “And I lost track of it and I think it’s just natural, because [of] the way our society is wired.”
Today, Paula not regretted her decision. After leaving New York City for South Carolina, her life and priorities changed.
“Our family is first. I’m able to be a mom first,” she said. “And my hustles then fit into that.”
