The Way We See God Is Affecting Us Dramatically
The message was about the importance of howwe view God’s character and nature.
“The way you view God oftentimes is the way you view yourself and in turn view your whole life. So, be careful,” he explained.
Later in his message, Pastor Judah shared a great illustration through his life experiences. He preached about how some people see God as a coach and debunked the truths behind the idea.
“What if God is not a coach? What if God reveals Himself completely differently than coach?” he asked.
“Who is this God who is so grand and yet so accessible? I can tell you right now He is not a coach,” he added later in his message.
Pastor Judah also shared how every generation creates their own image of God because of their human limitations.
“I think in an effort to understand God, we have once again in our generation made God in our own image,” he remarked.
“Each successive generation must wrestle with who God is… “he explained. “Most of us conclude because of the acts of humanity. Because of our own proclivities and weaknesses, bias, prejudice, self-absorption and self-serving. We once again do what every successive generation has grappled with. And that is we project on the Divine and we make Him in our own image.”
Further, the pastor challenged his listeners to ask themselves as a heart check: “Is God a coach helping us succeed in our career? Or is He is Father who wants us simply to be in His family?”
