What is the key to overcoming anxiety? How important is prayer when anxiety attacks us?

In the pilot episode of Truth Vine Stories, a short drama piece along with a devotional message, Betty King shares to us the key to overcoming anxiety.

As everyone in the world right now is faced with a difficult situation in this pandemic, many became anxious about many things. Some because anxious about their health and safety, some were worried about their finances, and many are unsure about tomorrow.

Overcoming anxiety

It is common for people to be consumed by anxiety. But the Lord clearly told us in Philippians 4:6 to not be anxious about anything. Instead of feeling anxious, let us present our worries to the Lord with thanksgiving.

“Anxiety will cause you to lose your creativity, thus, when the opportunity truly comes, you’re not at your best. It will also cause you to lose confidence… Anxiety will also cause you to lose your peace. When you read the Scripture, God says in everything give Him thanks. That’s the key. You must be a person that is filled with gratitude to be able to overcome,” Betty shared.

Prayer

That is the key to overcoming anxiety, being hopeful and thankful that the Lord will work in our hopeless situations.

“As we pray, as we seek His face, we don’t have to lose our identity in any shape or form. But prayer, God will answer our prayer as we trust Him. Fix your mind on what is pure and what is true,” she added.

Anxiety is a liar that is hindering us to pursue the promises of God in our lives. If you are someone dealing with anxiety right now, overcome it with prayers and thanksgiving.

“Anxiety will also cause you to really begin to think about the thing that’s not there, it’s as if you already have the answer before God answers. That’s why prayer is very important.”
