In the game of Chess, we’re all given an equal opportunity to win. Each side has one king, one queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights, and eight pawns. The pieces are placed, each one on a square. The rooks are placed on the outside corners, right and left edge.
In life, just like in Chess, achieving a good position early in the game, usually leads to more success. God gives us each a choice on how we choose to position ourselves. Every move we make, can ultimately affect our future. If we’re truly yielded to Him, seeking His Kingdom and righteousness first, then He will give us wisdom to make the correct choices in our lives.
The true object of the “game of life” is to learn to do the right thing, at the right time, and for the right reason. An expert Chess player isn’t too worried about how many pawns they may have. They are prepared to sacrifice a few pieces to achieve the ultimate position.
In order to do the right thing, you first have to discover what the right thing is. It’s in this round of the game that most players are learning from this personal experience. And many of us have learned that one wrong move, can indeed have a devastating effect.
It’s All About Jesus
I am a firm believer that no matter what our indiscretions may be, if we’re willing to repent, surrendering our lives to the Lord, God will use it all. If we choose to sin—to work independently of God—and remain unrepentant, then there must be consequences for it.
God understands how humans work. He knows that greed is a powerful motivator in this world. As humans, chance and probability are confusing to us; so, He warns us about this in Scripture. All in all, we’re learning to embrace the things that have helped us grow stronger, learning to let go of the things that don’t.
The number one thing that we have to learn in this world is that we’re not “in it” for ourselves. Life isn’t about random chances; it’s about divine order. That is the inspiration of life, and only Jesus Christ can teach us that. If we know Him, and I mean truly know Him, then we will figure this out, also.
God Provides Rules
For the good of all the players, God provides rules. The Bible is our step-by-step resource, with plays that have been executed for centuries. You can learn what worked for others and what didn’t. Take the time to learn the plays, and become an expert when confronting your opponent.
God wants us to understand the magnitude of His mighty power that saved us and exalted Christ over all, so that we will properly represent Him here on Earth.
Life is more than just a “game of chance”… It’s your turn to make the next move; so, let’s make it count!
