How can we love other people just as Jesus Christ loves us? The simple answer is, you should first die to yourself.
Judah and Rachel Cole
In an episode of Standing Together with hosts Claire Worth and Fergus Scarfe welcome guests Judah and Rachel Cole who shared a powerful message about loving others. Judah and Rachel are the church leaders of OpenWell Church and are passionate about their mission of loving the people.
When asked how they were able to love others just as Christ did, Judah emphasized being broken. Why is brokenness important for us to be able to love other people well?

“Brokenness is the best place to be because when we’re broken, when we know we’re weak and we’re frail, it’s in that place that God’s love can best flow through our life,” Judah said.
Love others like Jesus
He then continued to share about dying to one’s self in order to fully express Jesus’ love.
“Each day, we’ve had to learn to die, that sounds dramatic, but to love boldly, we’ve had to realize that we can’t love in our own strength. We in ourselves don’t have the love that we need for the world around us,” he added.
Dying to self
Loving others is not about us, and when we die to ourselves, we can be able to freely let love flow through us. It is all about Jesus loving the people. We are just vessels to be used by Him.
But how can we die to ourselves? Rachel answered that question by highlighting that it is a decision that we have to make every day.
“It’s a conscious decision every day. Whether I’m feeling like I’m on the mountain top; whether I’m feeling like I’m in a valley; my life is not my own. I’m this available vessel to be used by Jesus however that looks, wherever he places us.”
