Music legend Mariah Carey reveals her encounter with the Holy Spirit in her new book The Meaning Of Mariah Carey, that was recently released.

The pop megastar Mariah Carey has made a legacy in the music industry since her debut in the late 1980s. During those more than three decades in the limelight, the 50-year-old singer has been through ups and downs. The public watched as she has gone through many seasons in her career and in her personal life.
But what the public didn’t know was how her relationship with God became a huge part of how Mariah reached this far. On September 29, Mariah released a new book titled The Meaning Of Mariah Carey which is her latest memoir.
The Meaning Of Mariah Carey
In her latest book, she talked about her difficult times during her younger years. She also revealed how God saved her life from destruction. The pop icon also shared how she encountered the Holy Spirit with the help of her aunt Nana Reese, a minister in a church in Harlem. That experience was after a traumatic brawl broke out in her family.
“She told me, ‘Don’t be scared of all the trouble you see, all your dreams and visions are going to happen for you. Always remember that.’ As she spoke, a warm and loving current spread out from her hand to my leg, gently coursing through my body in waves and rising up and out of the top of my head,” the singer explained in her book.
Holy Spirit Encounter
That was the moment her faith in God was awakened. Christians describe her experience as an encounter with the Holy Spirit.
“I did later learn that people called Nana Reese, a prophetess,” Carey wrote. “I also learned that she was not the only healer in my lineage. Beyond all that, I believe a deep faith was awakened to me that day. I understood on a soul level, that no matter what happened to me or around me. Something lived inside me that I could always call on. I had something that would guide me through any storm.”
Faith in God
It was the start of her relationship with the Lord that was tested for so many times as she rose to fame and made a name in the music industry. However, that faith in her was never lost and her relationship with God was soon rekindled with a help of the Christian people around her.
“Having a [church] family and God brought me back to my life in the light,” Mariah Carey said. “None of my biological family understood what it meant to care so much about God, but I had to return … God was the only way I made it out of all my trips to hell.
