Vice President Mike Pence delivers a bold message to Americans in commemorating Veterans Day. He encouraged the people to remember the veterans’ sacrifices and service to keep the nation safe and secure.

In an editorial piece of Fox News, Pence declared the veterans as heroes. “On Veterans Day, it’s our day to set the record straight. Every veteran of the armed forces of the United States is a hero to the American people. On this day, it’s our duty to tell the story of what they did for us,” he said.
He continued, “What they did for our country, and all that they’ve done to ensure the survival and success of liberty.”
Pence’s father was a combat veteran himself. He once told Pence that the true heroes were “the guys who didn’t make it home.” With that said, Pence concluded that veterans don’t really see themselves as heroes. But just people who answered the call of their country.
He revealed that the Veterans Affair’s neglect showed a cold indifference to the women and men in uniform. And it has lowered their morale.

Regardless, Pence lauded the Trump administration for following through the promises made for the veterans. He highlighted the administration’s efforts in finding a new home for 30,000 homeless veterans. They also passed a new bill that gives $24,000 to veterans attending college.
Furthermore, Pence’s wife has also engaged in taking care of the veterans by spearheading the PREVENTS task force. It is an effort to cater to the mental health of the retired soldiers.
He then challenged Americans who did not serve in the uniform. “Before the day is out – whether at home or at work, on a street corner, or over a backyard fence – find a veteran.”
He continued, “Whether he or she came home in the last week or in the last century, extend your hand and say those words that veterans never ask to hear but they deserve to hear every day. Find a veteran today and say: ‘Thank you for your service.’ Because they deserve to hear it every day.”
