Kendrick brother’s new Bible-themed film “Lifemark” starring Kirk Cameron highlights a real-life adoption story.
The filmmakers of hit Christian movies “War Room” and “Overcomer,” is now gearing up for the release of their new film, “Lifemark.” It focuses on the topic of adoption and how two families can be knitted together by the birth of a baby. The film starring Kirk Cameron will be in the theaters on September 9.
Well-known Christian filmmakers Alex and Stephen Kendrick are the executive producers. It will also be directed by Kevin Peeples, creator of “Life Arrows.”
In the trailer, Kirk’s character and his wife will be adopting a baby with a birth mom who needs to give her baby to another family.
“We got the call. We have a son,” he says.
They named their adoptive son David. When he was in his high school years, he had the opportunity to meet his biological mom, Melissa.
“He is adopted” by a family “who could not have their own children,” Alex Kendrick says. “He was raised for 18 years. And Melissa reached out to him at that age, and he agreed to meet her in person.”
Melissa believed that her son hates her for giving him up, however, it’s actually the opposite.
“It is such a beautiful thing when our hearts start beating along with God’s heart in valuing the orphan and caring for them,” Stephen Kendrick says. “God is a father to the fatherless, and He places the lonely into families. He created not only the family, but He created adoption.”
The real-life story is close to the hearts of the makers of the film as Stephen and Kirk are each adoptive fathers themselves. “Lifemark” is filled with Biblical themes that would teach viewers to love and forgive.
“This movie is pro-family. It’s pro-love, it’s pro-forgiveness, it’s pro-reconciliation and new beginnings,” Kirk said.
