Amidst battling cancer, Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer, who withdrew from AGT Nightbirde, continues to share her sorrow on Instagram. And she says, “I want to die while my heart is still a greenhouse for hope” in a poem.
A Hero In Flames
In a recent post by Jane Marczewski, or “Nightbirde,” she shared a poem entitled “A Hero in Flames.” She wrote the poem herself to express her heart at the moment. And it reveals what she’s going through right now, especially her thoughts of death.
“If I were to die
It would be with the reflection of the mountains in my eyes
I would die with sun-pink cheeks
And a mouth full of blackberries
I want to die while my heart is still a greenhouse for hope
All my wild dreams as seedlings in egg cartons
Reaching toward the window
I cannot die yellow and hungry
I will not die in sterile air
But I would like to die
While the fireflies are still glowing
Morse coding their poetry for a cynical earth
I would like to die like Joan of Arc
With dignity and urgency and stubbornness
A watercolor portrait in the night
A sight to behold, a hero in flames.”

Nightbirde’s poem unveiled the hope that keeps burning inside her despite her condition. Moreover, in a previous post, she shared how hard it was for her to withdraw from America’s Got Talent. As Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer, she could have been contending for the semi-finals. But due to her condition, she had to withdraw from the talent show.
“It’s so hard for me to not be on the @agt stage for the finals this week..” she wrote. “I spend a lot of time squeezing my eyes shut and trying to remember what I believe. Counting my breaths in the grief cloud; burying my face into God’s t-shirt.”
Let’s continue to pray for Jane’s miraculous healing. Nothing is impossible with God.
