A North Carolina Christian school is offering shelter for students during their remote days from school to help parents.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis in the country, many public schools are restricted to a scheduled on and off in-person learning. This arrangement has been an inconvenience for households where both parents are working. Thus, a Christian School in the heart of Historic Canton stepped in to help those families.
Bethel Christian Academy
The Bethel Christian Academy (BCA) in Haywood County, North Carolina is stepping in to help solve the dilemma for many parents as their children return to school. They would be opening their doors to shelter the children during their days off from school. This would help the working parents have peace of mind about their children without having to spend more on childcare.
“If the parents both work and they don’t have alternate child care for that child and they can’t stay at home alone to do their school work on those days, then we’re opening up the facility for them to be able to do their remote learning here with us,” says lead school administrator Devona Finley.
Child Care Program
For parents seeking assistance, the school is extending their help by waiving the enrollment and application fees. The Bethel Christian Academy also accepts vouchers for child care program. This effort to help families is not only limited to Haywood County residents. The program is also open for Buncombe, Henderson, and Jackson County families.
Through this program, the Bethel Christian Academy is truly showing their support for the students’ learning.
