A police officer in Mississippi who responded to a 911 call and got shot twice in the head and almost died decided to forgive the attacker and prayed for him.
Alleged Kidnapping Incident

The suspect, Edgar Egbert, tried to escape from the house, and the officers pursued him. They managed to puncture the tire of the suspect’s vehicle. However, he escaped with a rifle. He then began to open fire on the police.

Shot In Head
Sheriff Deputy Brad was shot in the head twice. According to his recount, the suspect fired “probably 90 times.” Officer Joey found him covered in blood and was immediately taken to the hospital.

Officer Brad was in ICU at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and doctors predicted he wouldn’t survive the life-threatening situation. But he defied the odds and miraculously recovered. However, Brad came out of the coma feeling depressed.
“I was probably depressed until I went in for my second or third surgery to my head,” he said in an interview.
Power Of Prayer
Further, the officer acknowledged the power of prayer, which he attested saved him.
“I can tell that there’s a lot of prayers being said for me,” he said. “And as for my recovery, due to the fact that I wasn’t supposed to recover. My doctors have even told me that I’ve come further than they ever expected me to. In the short period of time that it has happened.”
Moreover, Brad stressed that he decided to forgive the suspect who shot him. And he testified how depression left him after praying for his attacker.

“Me and God have actually talked about it,” the officer said. “I forgive him… he’s got to face consequences now. We’ll both stand in front of the Pearly Gates and see what goes on from there. But I forgive him for what he done.”
Officer Brad continued to explain, “I finally woke up one morning. That’s back when I was depressed all the time, every morning at the same time, about 7 o’clock in the morning. It would just hit me. And I sat down and I started praying and I told God I forgive him. And from that day forward, the depression hasn’t been here.”
