Pro-Life former Congressman welcomes newborn daughter with Down Syndrome to their family calling her “perfect”.
Valentina StellaMaris Duffy
Former U.S. Representative Sean Duffy and wife Rachel Campos-Duffy welcomed their ninth child, Valentina StellaMaris Duffy, into their family. The couple revealed that little angel has Down Syndrome and a heart problem that will require surgery in a few months.
Rachel took to Facebook to announce baby Valentina’s birth last October 1, which is one month before her due date.
“Meet Valentina StellaMaris Duffy! She was born last week, one month before her due date. She is doing great, though still in the NICU until she learns to eat on her own. I’m home now, trying to recover from my first C-section (hats off to all the c-section moms out there – I had no idea!) and working hard with my breast pump to keep up with her growing appetite,” Rachel wrote.
The pro-life mom also revealed that their little girl has a heart defect and Down Syndrome thus making her “extra cute”.
“Valentina was born with a heart defect (2 holes in the heart and valves that need to be fixed). She will need surgery in 3-4 months. As we suspected, Valentina was also born with an extra chromosome, which means she also has Downs Syndrome. That extra chromosome certainly made her EXTRA cute. Life is wonderful,” she added.
In August, Rep. Sean announced that he will be leaving his position in Congress to prepare for baby Valentina’s arrival.
“We believe in life, and whatever gifts God gives us, we accept them. And this is gonna be a great gift,” he said. “Yeah, it’s going to be a little more stressful, but this little baby will have eight other siblings to wrap their loving arms around her, and we’re gonna do it as a family. We’ll figure out a different way to balance our lives.”
With the fact that the majority of the unborn babies with Down Syndrome end up being aborted, this pro-life couple’s choice speaks a powerful message! They joyfully and lovingly welcome the sweet little angel they called as “perfect” into their loving family.
“She’s the sweetest, most perfect angel we have ever seen,” Rachel said.
