An uprising is happening, and ‘revival is in the air’ according to the ‘Jesus Revolution’ director, who witnessed miracles while filming.
‘Jesus Revolution’
The enormous response that the public has given to Jon Erwin’s blockbuster movie has left him speechless. In the previous two weeks, the movie has brought in more than $30 million at the box office.
In a recent interview with CBN News, he said, “I’ve never, in my career, seen so many stories on social [media] of people using the film and lives being changed after the film.”

He added, “I’ve seen posts of people getting baptized in fountains outside the theater or in a lake the next day. Or a spontaneous praise and worship service starting in the theater, and then prayer happening in the theater long after the movie wrapped.”
The Origin
Jon stated that his desire to make the film stemmed from reading one of Time Magazine’s issues in 2015.

“I started really studying this last revival in America, and I felt gripped, like, ‘Why can’t my generation experience something like this?'” he told CBN’s Faithwire. “The late ’60s was just a very similar time [to today] of despair — cultural despair — and division. And then that’s when God really broke through.”
He can relate to how people got frustrated if things don’t happen within the timeline. At first, he wanted to make the film earlier along with his other projects. But Jon believed that it was all God’s perfect timing.
“It was just an amazing symphony of timing,” he said.
Jon believes that the revival at Asbury University is also a huge piece of the puzzle that explains why revival is in the air. He personally traveled to Asbury to see and witness the revival, and he was impacted profoundly.
“I remember Greg Laurie called me and said, ‘What did it feel like?’ And I said, ‘It felt exactly like the movie.'”
He continued, “The timing of the release, it just continues to blow my mind.”
Revival is in the Air
In due season, the harvest will be reaped if the planter doesn’t lose heart. Jon and his co-filmmakers not only enjoyed making the film but also witnessed a life-changing and supernatural turn of events.
“We felt it on set when we were doing the baptisms,” he said. “I’ve never felt that kind of spiritual power on a day of filming ever in my life, and I think it bleeds through the screen. I think you feel it in the movie.”
He made history when Jon got four A+ Cinema Scores. He expressed his deep gratitude and said, “It’s not about us. It’s about the people in the seats experiencing the film.”
“My takeaway is, for other artists out there, just value the right thing. You are there to serve the audience, and serving the audience is a privilege. And value that above all, and then success will come,” he concluded.
God is never late and never too early to answer the prayers of His people. He is always on time. And if we don’t quit and lose heart, we will reap the rewards of waiting upon Him. Now that He’s moving mightily across the nation, it’s high time we catch the wind because revival is in the air!
