Thousands of Christians gathered in the streets of Portland to worship the Lord during the event dubbed as “Riots to Revival.”

Riots to Revival

On the evening of August 8, thousands of Christians gathered in Waterfront Park to worship the Lord. The event led by worship leader Sean Feucht was dubbed as “Riots to Revival” with over 4,000 worshippers in attendance.

“Riots to Revival” aims to promote healing from the brokenness that has affected America in the past months. People also accepted Christ and were baptized during the joyful event.

“White, Black, Hispanic – we came and released our song of hope over this city,” Sean said. “People gave their life to Jesus. Hundreds of people. We baptized people in the river behind us. There was so much joy that took over the streets of that city last night.”

A few miles away from where the worship service was happening, a protest broke out. Rioters erected a fence, blocked street traffic by setting dumpsters on fire, and vandalized the Portland Police Association office with spray paint. A riot was declared at around 11:35 PM when demonstrators set the building on fire.

With the chaos happening across America, Sean is hopeful that despite this circumstance, the Lord is raising up the church to stand for peace in America.

“Our tagline last night was ‘Riots to Revival,’ which we’re carrying with us into Seattle tonight. We just believe that the church has the ability to change the narrative. All of America has just seen these buildings burning, and they’ve seen this destruction and this violence, and the mainstream media seems to be infatuated with this. But what I’m telling you is that there’s another story of what God is doing in these cities and the church is rising up,” Sean said in an interview.
