Samaritan’s Purse deployed an emergency field hospital to the Bahamas to help the country during the medical crisis due to coronavirus.
Samaritan’s Purse
The evangelical Christian humanitarian aid organization Samaritan’s Purse has always been ready to help people in physical need. Providing medical care has been a key part of their Christian missionary work. When the coronavirus outbreak hit several countries, the Samaritan’s purse acted quickly to aid countries who had been greatly affected by the pandemic.
After the Samaritan’s Purse helped hundreds of COVID-19 patients in New York and Italy, they are now gearing up to aid people in the Bahamas. Recently, the organization built a 28-bed COVID care center in the country at the request of the Bahamas prime minister.

Health facility
More than 14-tons of supplies along with a team of doctors, nurses, and other staff were transported to the Bahamas. The facility will be a part of Nassau’s Princess Margaret Hospital.
“The care center will help expand the hospital’s capacity for patient treatment, which has been strained as the number of coronavirus cases on the islands has risen,” the evangelical charity said.
Bahamas
As the coronavirus has continued in the country, the healthcare system has suffered. The country with a population of over 385,000 reaches an all-time high case of COVID-19. Many health professionals have contracted the virus.
“Hospital staff is overwhelmed and exhausted as the number of coronavirus patients in the Bahamas reaches an all-time high,” said Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham. “Our teams respond to the hard places in Jesus’ Name; this is the right place to go to make a difference in the lives of hurting families.”
The evangelical organization will not just be providing health care to the country, they will also be conducting training to equip local healthcare workers during this battle against coronavirus.
