‘See You At The Pole’ is an annual prayer rally led by students from all over the world. But the unanticipated pandemic altered the normal course of the event. Nevertheless, students are adapting.
See You At The Pole
SYATP encourages all students to gather around their school’s flagpole to pray for their schools, families, friends, and communities once a year. But this year, participants come together virtually and in small groups, when possible.
According to their official website, “it’s about one simple thing – STUDENTS in PRAYER” with the Biblical call to “RETURN. RESTORE. REVIVE.”

“Many students are learning from home. SYATP invites students, parents, families, youth leaders, and other concerned adults to join in a Live Prayer Moment,” they announced. “Aired at 7:00 am in each time zone in the US (including Alaska and Hawaii time zones).
“In this 30th year of SYATP, perhaps there has never been a more important time to pray for students, school, communities, and nations.”
People who want to participate can access the livestream event from their Campus Prayer app (available now in the app store), SYATP Facebook page, or its Youtube channel.
In line with this, students from Ketcham High School in Wappingers Falls looked for a way to gather and pray since their campuses were closed. So, they met at a local park and circled around the park’s flagpole. They interceded for their school and community, as well as their nation as a whole.
SYATP’s History
SYATP started back in 1990 when a group of 10 teenagers in Texas met for discipleship. They then felt the conviction to pray so they drove to three different schools that night and huddled around the schools’ flagpoles. They declared and claimed God’s promises and raised up their petitions to God.
The prayer event was later named “See You At The Pole” and was observed every year as they passed on the vision to 20,000 students in June 1990. Today, organizers estimate that over one million students from more than 64 countries answer the call to pray on behalf of their land.
