During one’s journey with God, there are times when one receives insight from God regarding one’s life purpose or destiny. These insights may come from God directly, from God through others, visions, dreams, coincidences, passions of one’s heart, and various other methods.
Receiving such words from God is of course exciting and encouraging, knowing you are so loved by God and that he has big plans for you. Once receiving such words, though, it is common to wonder just how these seemingly lofty and perhaps intimidating goals are achieved. It is easy to want to act right away, and in a sense action is required, but what is most important at such a time is continuing to harbor an ever-deeper relationship with God, creating true intimacy and passion with one another.
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
The above verse, although mentioned in the context of receiving the basic necessities of life (food, water, clothing, shelter, etc.), also applies with anything that is God’s heart for us to receive. For example, if you received insight from God that you will help many businessmen find God or that you will serve low-income populations in Asia, you can trust that God wants this for you (he told you so!).
Thus, we are to seek God, deepening our love-relationship with Him: as we seek God, we find Him; we fall in love with Him, and we begin to build this deep and inseparable bond where we are truly addicted to His love, His word, and His presence. Now, in this special place, we not only have the wonderful gift of being God’s friend, lover, servant, and child, but we have all the benefits of “…and all these things will be given to you as well.”
In the context of our purpose, all these things being given to us means, during our intimate journey seeking God, we will find ourselves running into pivotal people who help achieve our mission, create lifelong or seasonal friendships filled with open doors and fellowship, receive ideas and plans that we could have never thought of ourselves, and much more. It is in that special place, that deep intimacy with our Everything, where our destiny is truly fulfilled.
Now, what is your destiny and how will you achieve it?
