Longing For Love & Affection

Victor grew up in a church-going family. But he lacked affection and didn’t feel loved, especially by his father, a disciplinarian. He felt wronged that girls received more affection from their dads while his dad treated and disciplined him harshly. As a result, the little boy longed to experience true love. And it all heightened after watching a love scene from a movie at 5 years old.

At church, Victor also didn’t feel loved. So he started craving attention in all the wrong places. He started to have sexual encounters with men. Then at 9 years old, a friend introduced him to X-rated movies. And throughout middle school, high school, and college, he built his life around sex with both men and women. For the lost teen, having sex was the only way to feel loved and get more affection.

Victor was a football star in high school and college. And all the while, he drank alcohol, smoked, and indulged more in sex to feel good all the time. But despite it all, he felt a space of emptiness growing inside.

After graduating college, Victor got a job and moved back home. He hid his life from his family and continued pursuing his addiction with gay sex parties and gay chat rooms for temporary hookups. He thought he could just live up to the emptiness with such a lifestyle.

Until one day, Victor’s mom took him to church with her. When the service was over, the bishop called him over and told him three words that eventually led him to encounter God.
