Christian rock band Skillet’s lead vocalist John Cooper warned critics not to “throw water” on God’s work at the Asbury Revival.

The revival at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky started during a chapel service on February 7. Since then, the non-stop prayer and worship hasn’t stopped and has grown into a massive revival. Thousands of people from around the world have come to the small town to witness this great movement of the Lord.
Thousands of lives are being changed and it has sparked revival on other college campuses too. Though the spontaneous event received many positive comments on the internet, some on social media have questioned its legitimacy. Skillet’s John Cooper spoke out through his podcast “Cooper Stuff” to warn these critics.
“I just want to warn people: Do not be cynical about what God might be doing,” he said. “Wouldn’t it be great if he was doing something?”

He then emphasized that America needs revival. As Christians, let us not throw water on God’s work.
“I don’t want to throw water on a fire that the Holy Spirit might actually be starting,” he added. “… We need revival. We absolutely desperately need revival. Is this it? I have no idea. But let’s not pretend that we don’t need revival.”
John then explained that revival starts when people of God start to repent. It begins when there is holiness in the church and that revival overflows into everyone outside the church.
“I’m talking about people who already say they believe in Christ, but their lives they have not been walking in the fruits of repentance,” he said. Revival then overflows “into the world, to where the world hears the gospel and comes to Christ.”
Instead of criticizing what the Lord might be doing, let us instead pray for it.
