I remember, when I was little, I was probably about seven. I had just gotten back from my first international trip with my mom; her family’s all from Sweden. And so, we went out there and to commemorate that first trip, my mom had gotten me this necklace and it had this little plane pendant or charm on it. It was probably about this big. And I remember one night I was laying in bed and I was playing with it, and I had taken the charm off of the necklace. And, not thinking at all, I put it in my mouth and was laying on my back and just playing with the airplane in my mouth. And I accidentally swallowed or like breathed it in. I was choking and I couldn’t breathe and I could barely get out anything. And I didn’t, when you’re little, I didn’t think anything through, I didn’t like jump up and go run to the living room where my parents were. I just laid there and I was like, I’m choking, like probably whispered it out. My parents were in the living room, watching a movie. It wasn’t close to my room. And my dad jumps up and ran to my room, grabs me, takes me to the bathroom. Does the Heimlich, and saves my life.
I remember my mom would always tell this story as I was growing up. And she was like, “I don’t know how he heard you. I didn’t hear you. The TV was blaring. You were all the way in the back.” And my dad just, he’s a humble, humble dude, an awesome dude. And he’s, just like, “It was the Holy Spirit.” I share that story with you today to just encourage you in the power of being in tune with the Holy Spirit. My dad would get up, spend time with the Lord every morning, pray in tongues before work, pray over us. And he was just really in tune. He and the Holy Spirit were just like, buds. And, I believe with all my heart, the reason why I’m still alive today, is because he was in tune with the Holy Spirit. When he felt that prompting, when the Holy Spirit tells him to do something, he did it and that night it saved my life.
So I just want to encourage you to tune in, to take that time. Now I understand it. Now I take the time in the morning and it’s just powerful. So my encouragement for you, my prayer for you today is that you would take that time with the Lord. Take that time to pray in the Spirit, to be tuned in because, when He speaks, it’s powerful. It saved my life. So, I just wanna encourage you with that today. Thanks guys.
