What comes to mind when hearing about staying faithful? Maybe it’s the story of The Widow’s Offering:
“Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.
Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” Mark 12

The Widow’s Offering teaches us that being faithful has more to do with the sacrifice unto God and the Kingdom that He is building than the monetary value connected to it.
Remaining Faithful Softens Your Heart
A faithful life requires intentionality. Bringing ourselves before God in the small ways, where our contribution feels both insignificant and sacrificial, is an act of worship. These decisions remind our hearts of what we choose to live for.
Why Your Small Acts Matter to God
Do you find yourself doubting the impact of your giving? Whether that’s your tithe, your prayer life, or bible reading time, remember Jesus’s words about the widow. It would be easy to walk away from her offering, doubting the importance of what she just gave. But to God, worship, when we feel that there is nothing left to give, is the place of His pleasure.
“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” Luke 16:10
Faithfulness is a practice to be learned in the smarts parts of your day. Ask yourself this week: how can I be faithful to what God has called me to?
