Listen: Steffany Gretzinger of Bethel Music Sings King of My Heart

A perfect song with which to celebrate our Risen Lord!

The Bethel Music Collective is known for stirring revival with lyrics of pure devotion. A prime example is the song ‘King of My Heart,’ which is one of a long line of songs that demonstrate a singular, genuine purpose – the glorification and worship of God.

A modern day rendition of “Be Thou My Vision, the lyrics of King of My Heart are profound to say the least. Lead singer Steffany Gretzinger pleads: “Let the King of my heart be the wind inside my sails, the anchor in the waves, oh He is my song.” The band then alternates between reminders of God’s goodness and His faithfulness. What more could you want from a song?

But even more notable is the song’s flow, which lends itself to spontaneous worship – a feature of most Bethel Music songs. In fact, spontaneous worship, or the off-the-cuff worship that occurs within the existing structure of the song, is what Bethel Music does best. Their passion is contagious.

Enjoy this worship experience within the comfort of your own home!

Bethel Music

Birthed out of Bethel Church in Redding, California, which is a hub of global Christian revival, Bethel Music describes themselves as “a community of worshippers pursuing the presence of God and sharing life together.” With this humble approach, you can understand why well known artists like Jeremy Riddle have joined.

Steffany Gretzinger On Worship

“We remember, we return, and we reconnect with God.”

Besides singing, Steffany has another talent. She is an inspiring speaker with a prophetic voice. According to Steffany, we worship for three reasons: we remember, we return, and we reconnect with God.

She says that God’s original intention was to walk beside us in the garden, having an intimate connection and an ongoing conversation filled with love. Since original sin, we have to consciously remember, return, and reconnect with God to have that intimate relationship we so desperately need. This is why we worship.

Steffany asserts that she wasn’t always so keen on spontaneous worship. In fact, she was very self-contained and worried about others’ perceptions. Now she is uninhibited and describes her worship as feeling suspended, as though she could explode. What changed? She realized “how greatly loved I really am.”

And so, when she worships, Steffany is remembering, returning, and reconnecting. With the stated purpose of carrying “the culture of Heaven to the world through song,” Bethel Music achieves this with King of My Heart. Their fervent desire is that you will use the song to remember, return, and reconnect with God.
