Steve Harvey, together with Kent State University, has offered full scholarships to eight students. According to Steve, ‘God chose these students out of millions to do something great.’
Steve Harvey is a comedian and television host who is widely known for his Christian faith. He is an actor, producer, author and alumni at Kent State University.
On June 26 he uploaded a video clip of the ‘Steve’ show to YouTube, introducing the eight students and encouraging them to fulfill their God-given calling. “Almighty God, He’s got a plan for you,” he told the incoming students.
According to the Kent State University site, Steve says, he will cover the total cost of attendance for the eight freshmen.
“How? How? Just think about this for a moment. Out of the thousands of kids, y’all eight names got pulled out of the sky. How? How?” Steve asked. “Well, I’m going to tell you how: because Almighty God – He’s got a plan for you!”

The Harveys oversee the ‘Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation’ that aims to provide youth outreach services to help the next generation become responsible leaders. They provide educational enrichment, mentoring, life transformation skills and global service initiatives.
The foundation is partnering with Kent State to provide the scholarships and the students will need to maintain an average of 2.5-grade point, to renew their scholarships each semester.
Steve offered the freshman a word of advice: “This is a really, really cool moment for me. I want y’all to take advantage of this, man. Do something with yourself. Don’t blow this shot,” he said. “There’s a lot of people out there that will not get a shot like this!”
