“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:1-5)
Have you experienced the sting of pruning? Like as soon as you feel fruitful, there is another wave of refining? This is how God grows our spirits! Like today’s verse says: “every branch that does bear fruit he prunes”. Your refining is a sign that you are bearing fruit. Consider this pure joy. God does not want you to just grow once. He is continually developing the person you are becoming. We become when we remain with Him, the gardener. He knows everything about us. He knows what soil we will thrive in. He even knows the climate conditions we can sustain. There is a purpose to your pruning and growth. God is leading you in the direction He has predestined! You can surrender to this pruning process, receiving from Him, the God of the universe. He sees you and understands you completely.
