The sword of the Spirit in the Armor of God is not the entire Bible, it is the Rhema word that is for a specific battle that we are facing.
Sword of the Spirit
Havilah Cunnington revealed a powerful message of the Scripture! She explains what does the sword of the Spirit in the Armor of God really means. In Ephesians 6, Paul wrote about the Armor of God and how it can be used to fight against evil. The last-mentioned item in the list is the sword of the Spirit.
“Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” – Ephesians 6:17
Do you know that the sword of the Spirit doesn’t literally mean the entire Bible? During the time when Paul wrote that passage, Roman soldiers are normally seen with big and heavy swords. They train twice a day with swords to build their endurance and strength. However, when they go to war, they only bring with them small swords that are half the weight and size of the swords they carry daily.
Paul meant the sword of the Spirit as the small sword that is used for war, and that for us is the Rhema word.
“Rhema means a quickened and specific word of the Spirit,” Havilah explained.
“Paul says to the believers, ‘when your enemy comes, I want you to take up the sword of the Spirit and deal with your enemy,’” she added.
We should be strategic when we are facing our battles. Use the entire Bible to build up your endurance and strength, and use the Rhema word to strike the enemy.
“Get that weapon made for war and deal with the enemy. Take up the Rhema, the specific quickened word of God. Get that thing in your heart and begin to deal with the enemy.
