When an atheist heard God’s audible voice saying, “I will use you,” he could’t say no.
Isaiah Saldivar Became An Atheist
Isaiah grew up in a beautiful Christian home. He had no anger and bitterness toward his family, but the enemy always wanted to turn him into someone he didn’t want to be.
It started when a series of near-death experiences happened to him. One of those was when he accidentally hung himself on a tree when he was twelve years old. “I should be dead that day,” he said.
“Something’s trying to kill me, but Someone’s always trying to save me. I don’t know if that was Jesus, an angel, or the Holy Spirit. I don’t know, I was twelve years old at that time,” he added.
Isaiah had dreams and he had his life figured out. He wanted to be a police officer, marry the woman of his dreams, and pursue a life of prestige. He made sure he was doing well in school, had a job at sixteen while in college, and owned a car.
But no one knew that was just his facade.
The truth is, he was living a lost life. Partying all night and drinking, not getting enough sleep, jumping from one relationship to another, broken and depressed, bitter, angry, and hard-hearted. He didn’t tell anyone he was decaying inside. It came to a point that he no longer believed in God and became an atheist for many years.
When he stopped going to church for a long time, his sister would always tell him to go.
“Just try God, one more time,” she would say.
Annoyed, Isaiah said, “Okay. I will go to church, but this is gonna be the last time I’ll ever step foot in the church again.”
Little did he know that was just the start of his new life.
Atheist Heard God’s Audible Voice
Isaiah was apathetic toward anything related to the church. He considered it an obligation to go when his sister wouldn’t stop encouraging.
When he finally went, he wasn’t expecting anything. But following the preacher’s Spirit-filled sermon on global missions and changing the world in the name of Jesus, Isaiah realized he couldn’t possibly continue to sit in his pew.
He ran to the altar and cried, “God if you’re real, I’ll give you everything.” God responded instantly and in an audible voice, Isaiah heard God clearly, “I am going to use you to preach the gospel to every nation.”
It’s something that he couldn’t explain but at that point, everything aside from God didn’t make any sense. His dreams, his vices, his stubbornness paled in comparison.
Isaiah encountered God and was deeply repentant. He left the place renewed, changed, and equipped for what God told Him. He entered the church with a hard heart, but he left with a new heart as God’s son.
Indeed, He is able!
