A New York pastor received an award from the White House for aiding persecuted Christians worldwide for decades.

Pastor Bill Devlin from New York received the President’s Volunteer Service Award last Friday in Melville, Long Island. He has been granted the award for his service in aiding the persecuted Christians worldwide and other impacted in war zones for decades.
The President’s White House Council on Service and Civic Participation bestowed the award. It is to honor those individuals whose service impacts the community and inspires others to take action. Pastor Bill is “grateful to God” for the award. The co-pastor of Infinity Bible Church in Bronx also shared how he left his atheist ways to come to Christ more than 50 years ago.
“I was a radical God-hating atheist, and when I was hitchhiking on the San Diego Freeway on June 23, 1971, a Jesus freak shared the Good News of Jesus and the Gospel with me,” he recalled. “And that night, I received Jesus into my heart and life.”

White House Award
Almost immediately, God called him to serve others. He started in ministry as a young Christian, then continued sharing God’s love in the US Navy.
“I immediately started in ministry as a young Christian,” he added. “And a week after I was converted to Christ, … I volunteered to go into the military, to the United States Navy.”
He served in Vietnam until a bomb landed on his ship. Thankfully, he survived the bombing and received a Purple Heart award. Pastor Bill then served in Christian ministry for 25 years, got married, and had five children. He also runs the ministries Widows & Orphans and REDEEM! His ministries help persecuted Christians worldwide.
God was burning a hole in his heart “about the persecuted Church, about widows, orphans, the broken, the neglected, the forgotten, the disenfranchised, the persecuted believer, [and] the persecuted Church.” Since then, he has been traveling around the world to minister to persecuted Christians, even those in dangerous war zones.
