On a recent trip to Israel, Texans QB Deshaun Watson was baptized in the Jordan River, the same river Jesus was baptized.
America’s Voices in Israel
America’s Voices is a non-profit group which sponsors and organizes week-long mission trips to Israel for “prominent headline-makers” from the Latino or African-American communities.
Recently, the 24 year-old QB Deshaun Watson was selected to visit the Holy Land as their special guest. Deshuan took over America’s Voices in Israel’s Instagram to document his amazing trip. One of amazing things he showed was his baptism in the Jordan River.
“Welcome Deshaun Watson a true friend of Zion,” wrote in the caption of the Instagram post.
“Life-changing experience”
Deshaun also posted on his Instagram about the trip and called it a “life-changing experience.”
He said, “Went to Jesus’ hometown. Got Baptized in the Jordan River. Went tubing in the Sea of Galilee. I took a trip through Mary Magdalene’s hometown. Saw the first church in Capharnuan. Life-Changing Experiences – Major Blessings.”
Deshaun Watson
The NFL’s Derrick Deshaun Watson has been a quarterback for the Houston Texans since 2017. He ranks 51st on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2019.
Born in Gainesville, Georgia, Deshaun was raised a Christian and became a part of the Southern Baptist Convention after coming to Houston. Interestingly, when Deshuan was 11 his family received a home thanks to Atlanta Falcons running back Warrick Dunn’s charity Homes for the Holidays. Deshaun was greatly impacted by this act of Christian charity. As God blessed his life, he made sure to bless those in need. Deshaun donated his first game day check of 2017, worth $27,000, to cafeteria employees who were affected by Hurricane Harvey.
As a believer, Deshaun said his trip to Israel was a special blessing and an amazing opportunity for him.
“This is a part of the world which gets a lot of attention internationally, and this is a chance for me to look beyond the headlines and learn more about the history and culture of this land,” Watson said, “I have been blessed to visit many countries around the world, but the chance to visit the Holy Land, see the sites and meet the people of this special place, truly is a special blessing and an amazing opportunity.”
