Since the death and murder of George Floyd, many influencers, celebrities, everyday people, and members of the police force, have spoken out against racism. Riots have skyrocketed and they seem to be all we see on the news. But what we don’t see are the men and women who are fighting against racism in a peaceful manner.
Trevor Talks Speaks at Protest
Christian, Mental Health Advocate, Public Speaker, and Podcaster, Trevor Tyson of Trevor Talks took to the streets of Monroe, Georgia to express his own call to unity and to stand against racism.
“This isn’t a fight against all lives,” Trevor stated in a Facebook post, “This isn’t a fight against police and their beautiful families. This is about racism. This is about the black lives targeted daily. Until black lives are protected, we can’t chant all lives matter.”
In a video posted on the Trevor Talks Facebook page taken from his Instagram live on June 2 of 2020, Trevor states, “All lives can not matter until black lives matter.” Trevor went on to tell other peaceful protesters that they have a purpose no matter their skin tone or ethnicity.
“All lives aren’t being racially targeted. Where you may or may have not had racial encounters because of the color of your sin, our black brother and sisters get it daily.”
Trevor says that it’s about acceptance and education saying, “We all have to accept healing and move forward.”
“My family is a peaceful family.”
The family of George Floyd has made it very apparent that this is their message as well. They said that this (the riots) is not what George would want. George’s brother, Terrence Floyd, pleaded on Tuesday for the riots to stop. He said, “I understand y’all upset, but I doubt y’all half as upset as I am. If I’m not over here wilding out if I’m not blowing stuff up… then what are y’all doing? Y’all doing nothing!” Terrence continued by saying, “My family is a peaceful family. My family is God-fearing.”
Created in God’s Image
Trevor has made it clear that black lives are classified under all lives. That is why the black lives matter movement is so important. God created each and every one of us in His image. We are all equal to Him. It’s about time we become equal to each other as well.
