A Christian lady who formerly struggled with a porn addiction boldly shared three ways to be free from it.
Porn Addiction
The pornographic industry is a dark world and is sinful by its nature. The enemy has been using it for decades to corrupt people’s view of love and sex. Sadly, the majority of men and women worldwide struggle with porn addiction.
As Christians, let us take action in telling the world what sex truly is as God designed it to be. Let us help everyone to break free from their pornographic addiction and lead them to know what true love is. However, breaking free from this slavery is never that easy, but with God’s grace and love, anyone can overcome it!
Blooming While Waiting
Jemimah Ramos, the woman behind the Christian Facebook page Blooming While Waiting, has also struggled with porn. On a recent Facebook page, she boldly exposed the story of how she started to get addicted to porn and how she overcame it through God’s grace.
Before she continued to enumerate the three practical things she did to quit porn, she first emphasized that this is a battle. And that battle starts with one’s mind. One must first have a willingness and desire to get rid of this addiction before he/she could succeed.
Steps to quit porn
Here are three steps Jemimah shared with her thousands of followers to help them flee from porn addiction.
- Do not let yourself be idle.
“You’re meant to flee not fight against it,” she wrote. “Don’t ever ever let yourself be tempted to idle yourself and let your thoughts wander. When you think of watching it again, replace it with something that will make you productive instead.”
- Be accountable with your godly leaders.
“We open up not because we want to remove the guilt but it’s also a humbling process to willingly admit in a sin because God just wanted for us to be honest with ourselves.”
- Be careful with your thought life, small compromises are still compromises.
“Know your weaknesses and take action of it. The lie of the enemy is that it will make you think that it’s pleasurable during the process yet he will also make you feel guilty and leave you hanging after the sin. If you think that you’re standing strong, be careful not to fall.”
Jemimah then ended her post by highlighting that porn could never and will never fill one’s longing. Only Jesus could fill one’s emptiness.
