God’s pleasure and delight
Isaiah 62 details Zion’s new name and an analogy for God’s delight in us like that of a bridegroom. It’s an incredible chapter that reminds us of God’s union to us. Verse 5 explains that God rejoices over us like a groom to His bride. We aren’t accepted as “just enough” by God. He fully embraces us!
The importance of knowing His word
Knowing the truth of God’s word is vital. The enemy intends to deceive you into believing you are not who God says you are. When you feel discouraged, confused, or ashamed, God’s word explains the delight he has in us as sons and daughters.
“For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent,
for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet,
till her vindication shines out like the dawn,
her salvation like a blazing torch.
2 The nations will see your vindication,
and all kings your glory;
you will be called by a new name
that the mouth of the Lord will bestow.
3 You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand,
a royal diadem in the hand of your God.
4 No longer will they call you Deserted,
or name your land Desolate.
But you will be called Hephzibah,[a]
and your land Beulah[b];
for the Lord will take delight in you,
and your land will be married.
5 As a young man marries a young woman,
so will your Builder marry you;
as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride,
so will your God rejoice over you.” (Isaiah 62:1-5)
A prayer for you: Father, thank you for this reader’s heart to know you. Fill their mind and spirit with the truth of your word today. Fill them with your presence, Holy Spirit, to walk powerfully the path you’ve made for them. Amen.
