Today, I’m here to talk to those of you who have been feeling overwhelmed, burnt out and tired. You feel like you just can’t do it anymore, and you feel drained. If that’s you, let’s have some real talk today.
If you feel like you can’t keep going, I want to give you a secret. I’m going to ask you a question actually, first: When was the last time you opened your Bible? When was the last time that you spent time with the Lord? And if you’re like, “I’m too busy to spend time with the Lord,” then that is when you need to spend time with Him the most. It is too important to let it fall by the wayside. Yes, we pray without ceasing, yes we are aware of Him in our day, but like a car runs out of gas and can’t go any further, that is like our spiritual lives. We have to fill up. If you’re like, “Oh, I’m bigger than that. I don’t need to fill up,” look at Jesus. Jesus needed to go fill up. And if we think we’re greater than Jesus, that’s just a lie. So, when was the last time you opened the word of God? Jesus went up to the mountain to be with the Father. When have you gone up to the mountain? Have you gone into nature? Have you gone into your room? Have you gone into a closet? It’s too important to not be intentional with it.
So, if you just keep talking about how tired you are and how burnout you are, spend time with the Lord. It’s going to change your life. Open up the word of God. The word of God is life. It is our daily bread, not our weekly bread, not our bread that we can get to when we can get to it; our daily bread. And I’m telling you, you are going to see. I feel like whenever I haven’t been intentional with spending time with the Lord or reading the word of God, I feel like my eyes get tired. And then when I read the word of God, like they come alive and they come open again. That’s the analogy that I can think of to explain this to you right now.
So if it is just five minutes, just read your Bible. You can look on your phone if you’re waiting in the line to get your tires changed or waiting in the grocery line, or, you know, maybe you just have a couple minutes. We have our phones and we can literally open up a Bible app and read the Bible. We can take the Bible off the shelf and read the Bible. I would suggest getting really intentional and putting it on your calendar, scheduling it. It’s actually not bad to schedule time with God. It’s a really good, because that’s intentional. Whenever I have a friend that I want to spend time with, I put time on my calendar for them. I set aside a specific time so I can come together and have relationship with them. It is okay to put time with God on your calendar, and actually for a lot of people, it’s really needed.
I want to pray for you today. Father, I just pray for anybody who’s been feeling tired, and burnt out like it’s hard to keep going. I just ask that you fill them with a Holy Spirit injection of energy and power and excitement for life. Father, excitement for life with you. Father, would you give them insight into their own day, into their own schedule of what it looks like, where they can chunk out time with you, Father. Where they can take advantage of those moments when they just want to veg out on the couch. And actually what is going to fill them up is opening the word of God and just saying, “Hey God, I love you.” So Lord, I just pray for increased capacity in connection with you, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
