The cliché belief that to be effective or successful, one should work hard and never waste time because time is gold. Some people took this saying too far: they work day and night, neglecting the rest they deserve. And this is what Pastor Chris jumps into in GOD TV’s “It’s All Greek To Me.”
The Greek word of rest is “anapafso.” It means “refreshment,” or to make to cease. In the show, the host, Pastor Demetriou, shared his own testimony about rest because he is a person himself who liked working.
“I enjoy working. I enjoy doing things. But before I learned to rest in work, I had problems. Because I’d end up exhausted,” Chris said.
Pastor Chris then stressed how the Scripture mentioned both work and rest 350 odd times. That’s why it tells us, “God wants us to balance work and rest.”

“In today’s society of microwave fast food society, it’s really hard to slow down,” he further added.
In Matthew 11:28, Jesus promised to those who labor, “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (anapafso).”
This verse reveals an invitation from God to just rest.
“You know we just get bogged down with stuff. We feel like the whole world has fallen upon us. And we don’t turn to Him,” Chris said. “He’s sent an invitation out that you can accept right now.”
So, if you feel like you’re laboring in vain right now, now is the time to accept God’s invitation. Jesus is inviting you to let go of everything that is burdening you and find rest in Him. Now is the time to learn from Him and let God’s will of a balanced work and rest manifest in your life.
