This father’s gesture towards his crying daughter captured in a photo will teach an important lesson that every parent should know.
Father’s Gesture
The hardest part of being a parent is being able to mold your children into the person God destined them to be. God entrusts children to their parents and it is their role to bring them up with discipline and instructions that come from the Lord.
Every mom and dad will be able to guide their children properly if they know them deeply. That’s what Joy and Edric Mendoza realized when they had a small incident with their daughter, Catalina. Joy and Edric are a Christian couple with six children. They are motivational speakers and bloggers that focus on family development.
Every child is different
One day, Catalina accidentally ran into her dad and hurt him. Edric slightly raised his voice telling saying “Catalina! Be careful!” She then ran to her mother and cried. An hour after the incident, when her dad tried to apologize to her about the incident, she cried again.
“About an hour later, when I mentioned this to Edric, he called her to our room and asked for forgiveness. Even though she had gone back to playing and getting ready to go out, when Edric spoke to her, she cried again. Edric embraced her really tightly and gave her time to cry, and then she was okay,” Joy wrote her Facebook page.
Important Lesson
The sweet moment was captured on a photo and it speaks an important message to all parents. Every parent needs to know their children very well and also take care of their emotional wounds.
“Some children harbor negative feelings, others may seem to easily get over them,” Joy added. “Yet, all of them need to see us humble ourselves when we make mistakes, even if these mistakes may not seem like a big deal to us. Having six kids has shown me that all children are fragile in their own way — big or small, young or old.”
Joy ended her post by referencing a Scripture that talks about parenthood.
“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.” -Ephesians 6:4
