A US ministry will be bringing Christmas blessing and Gospel to children in the impoverished regions across Russia and the former Soviet Union.
Russian Children
Due to the global pandemic, orphanages and children’s homes in the impoverished regions of Russia and the former Soviet Union were forced to close. It was the result of the economic collapse. Thousands of children without support, making them vulnerable to exploitation, domestic violence, and neglect.
Upon seeing the problem these orphanages are facing, a US ministry is planning to bless these children during this Christmas. A season that seems to be dark to most of these children, this is an opportunity to share the Gospel hope to them.
“The need in these areas is greater than ever,” Michael Johnson, president of the Slavic Gospel Association, said. “Not just physical, but spiritual, as well. There are children and teenagers who have no knowledge of God. Christmas is the most significant opportunity for evangelism in these countries.”

US Ministry
The Slavic Gospel Association is partnering with local churches in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and the former Soviet Union in Central Asia. This program is Immanuel’s Child, an annual Christmas outreach event to bring hope to in-need children.
Christmas Blessing & Gospel
2020 Immanuel’s Child will be bringing Christmas gifts, children’s Bibles, and personalized ornaments to over 50,000 children.
“Orthodox churches in Russia celebrate Christmas from January 7 until January 11,” Michael explained. “This gives us a great opportunity to bring unreached families into churches so that they can hear the proclamation of the Gospel. It really is one of the most effective tools because we support an event that’s already taking place. But the fruit that we see is absolutely phenomenal.”
The local evangelical churches partnered by the Slavic Gospel Association will be distributing the gifts to children door-to-door. These gifts will be a reminder that there’s someone overseas who loves and is praying for these children.
