A 37-years-old man from Dallas who recovered from coronavirus after being in coma for weeks has an important message to everyone.
Man recovers from coronavirus
Christopher Marshall from Dallas contracted the coronavirus despite practicing measures to avoid the disease. He frequently washed his hands and used hand sanitizer. However, he did not think about the virus too seriously and continued to go out in the public without protective equipment.
“I was riding public transportation. I wasn’t wearing a mask or gloves or anything like that and somehow I got it,” Christopher said.
It all started when Christopher experienced symptoms of bad allergies, but his condition continued to get worse. After a few days, he got pneumonia in both his lungs and his condition was not improving.
3-weeks coma
He was then rushed to the emergency room at Methodist Hospital and tested positive of coronavirus. Doctors told him that he wasn’t getting enough oxygen so they need to intubate him and place him in a medically induced coma.
“On the outside I was calm but, on the inside, I was very fearful because I’ve never been put to sleep like that before,” he said.
His condition kept getting worse and he had to be airlifted to Medical City in Plano, Texas. After three weeks of battling the virus, Christopher finally woke up on March 31. It also happened to be his birthday.
Important message
On April 16, he was discharged from the hospital where the whole medical staff cheered for his miraculous recovery.
The man who almost lost his life from coronavirus has an important message to the public, and that is to take this virus seriously.
“Please stay home, stay home, stay home,” Christopher said. “This is real serious.”
