Finding Comfort From The Word Of God

There are so many things other than Jesus that people go are finding comfort in these days – relationships, food, entertainment, and the list goes on. But the truth is that the only lasting kind comes from finding comfort in Christ.

What Does The Bible Say?

Here are ten Bible verses that provide comfort. Before reading through them become aware of how you are feeling. Then read these 10 verse and check back in with yourself.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” – Psalm 23:4
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” – Revelation 21:4
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my savior; in him my God, I will find protection. He is my shield, the strength of my life, and my stronghold.” – Psalm 18:2
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1 I hope these verses bring you some comfort. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Holy Spirit, thank You for being the Comforter. I ask that You would surround me with Your wrap-around presence. I only want to be finding comfort in You. Teach me to come to you first, for You truly care for me. Amen.

Country singer Luke Bryan shared how he found comfort in God after three tragedies hit his family.

Luke has been known as a fan favorite in the country music world. He has been a two-time CMA winner of the Entertainer of the Year award. However, the road to his today’s success has never been an easy path, it was his faith in God that helped him through all the hurdles he has faced.

The 46-year-old artist is the youngest of three children. He started playing the guitar in his church, became a youth leader, and eventually started to write his own Christian songs.

“My first song was ‘The Day He Turned Me Around,’ and it was a Christian song,” he remembered. “It was just a simple Christian song, but I physically wrote it and performed it in front of my congregation when I was 15, maybe 16.”

Three Tragedies

When he was 19, he decided to pursue his music career and move to Nashville, however, a tragedy stopped him from doing so. His older brother Chris was killed in a car accident. He placed his dreams on hold until his father pushed him to pursue them.

In 2001, he moved to Nashville and started building his career. Six years after, he finally released his debut album, “All My Friends Say.” Just as he was starting to establish a name in the industry, another tragedy struck their family. His older sister Kelly suddenly passed away at the age of 39. In 2014, the third tragedy struck when his brother-in-law, Ben Lee Cheshire, died of a heart attack.

Though he has questions as to why he had been experiencing this pain, he still had faith in God’s plan. The pain of losing his family taught him about the importance of one’s life.

“The losses gave me such a deep perspective of life; how tough it can get at any second,” he told PEOPLE. “You question it every day, but you have to revert back to your faith in God’s plan.”

Christian Author Responds To ‘Rapture Anxiety’ Article: ‘Bible Prophecy… Is Meant To Be Comforting’

A Christian end times author responded to a “rapture anxiety” article saying that “Bible prophecy” is meant to be comforting.

Recently, a CNN article made a bold statement saying that some Christians are experiencing “rapture anxiety.” That news article sparked controversy and discussions among believers and non-believers. Jeff Kinley, the author of several books on rapture and end times responded to the controversial article.

“The first thing I thought was, ‘Really? You’re making up this whole idea of the fact that people all over the place are just so filled with anxiety about the rapture, which I’ve rarely encountered.’ That’s one thing,” Jeff said. “The flip side of it was the irony. The rapture is really designed to bring comfort, not anxiety. It’s the complete opposite.”

Comfort for Believers

In his response, he emphasized that rapture is meant to bring comfort to those who believe in Jesus Christ.

“I see how Bible prophecy and the rapture is meant to be the most comforting thing for a believer … it’s the bride of Christ,” he added. “And she gets to be rescued, so why should she be anxious about that?”

The issue of how the topic ignites anxiety might come from the fact that some preachers used the topic to ignite fear. They are teaching about the rapture “with poor motives or improper motives.” So, that doctrine should be taught correctly for it to become a comfort to those who hear it.

“The rapture has been used as a scare tactic … against people in the past to try to get them saved or that type of thing. So, I get that,” he said. “I also get the fact that sometimes in portrayals of the rapture, it is very sensational.”

Letting The Father Fight For Us

Today for the first time since the COVID-19 shutdowns, my son made a new friend at the park. I watched him just be a kid, and my heart broke for the season we’ve been in. The parks only recently opened, and we haven’t had very many playdates. The little boys introduced themselves by talking about their parents. “MY mom is over there! Her name is Lindsi!” And then the other little boy said, “My dad’s name is DADDY!” This moment hit my heart like a refreshing and heavy wind. I felt the love and reassurance of the Father fill my heart. Are we confident in who our Daddy is?

Family Is Our Safe Place

I found it so adorable, yet so amazing that these kids introduced themselves by talking about their parents; their safe place. Their identity comes from their family. I know that this season has been a difficult time for families. Our schedules shifted drastically, and it’s been difficult emotionally. At that moment in the park, I felt the Father saying, “Parents need Me to father them. Will you let Me comfort you? Do you see Me protecting you?” I want to stand on the truth that my Father is with me and for me.

Jesus Showed Us Who The Father Is

When Jesus taught the disciples to pray, He began with, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name…” (Matthew 6:9). Jesus came to show us Who the Father is. Every beautiful thing that Jesus did came from the heart of the Father, and every truth Jesus spoke came from His Dad. “For the Father loves the Son and shows Him all that He Himself is doing…” (John 5:20a). As parents, I want to encourage us to be like children, and to allow our Heavenly Dad in. He is strong. He has the answers to our problems. I want to be like that little boy who confidently said, “My dad’s name is DADDY!”

We Show Our Kids Who The Father Is

If I know who my Father is, I will be able to point my kids in the right direction. God equips us! All we have to do is surrender with childlike faith! “Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do His will…” (Hebrews 13:20-21a). He is a good Father! We can boast about how strong He is, knowing that HE is for us. He knows our names, He counts every hair on our heads. He is our provider and KING! Let His name be your foundation!

Bullied 6-Year-Old Was Sent At Hospital—Police Parades At Hospital To Comfort Him

A 6-year-old bullied by a neighbor kid ended up in hospital after throwing a tennis ball on fire on his face. Police officers then went out of their way to comfort the little guy.

The 6-year-old Dominick and his family moved to a new place a year ago. They were new to the neighborhood when an 8-year-old kid began to bully him. According to Inside Edition’s report, the bullying went on for months. And just two months ago, his parents revealed that the kid shoved their son to the wall.

Today, Dominick is in the hospital with his face covered with bandages because of what the bully kid did again. Apparently, he poured gasoline into a tennis ball and lit it. Then he threw it toward Dominick’s face resulting in second and third-degree burns.

Community And Police Comforts Little Guy

Following the incident, some people from the community showed him some love. Soon after, police officers, paramedics, and firefighters also went out of their way to comfort the little guy. They surprised him by rallying their vehicles and firetrucks outside his hospital room’s window. These unsung heroes wanted to encourage and lift up the little man by showing their genuine support.

The kindness of the police officers made Dominick so happy he wanted to be a policeman as well someday. Also, because of his own unfortunate experience, he wanted to bring justice to those who were bullied like him. The 6-year-old wanted “bullying to end.”

Although suffered a lot from the mishap of bullying, God has blessed Dominick right now as many people have helped them. A GoFundMe page was put up, and it has already raised over $350,000. The page was initiated so that Dominick’s family could move to a safer place where there are no more bullies.

Let’s pray that the 6-year-old would heal from all the trauma the violence caused him aside from total physical healing. Pray for his inner healing and mental health as well.

Garbage Man Stops To Comfort & Pray For Helpless Young Woman

A garbage man who passed by a struggling young woman stops over to comfort and pray for her. And what he did created a ripple effect of kindness amongst people!

Garbage Man Prays For Young Lady

Dave and Charlie’s Hometown Deli owners in Norwalk took the act of kindness they witnessed from a sanitation worker to social media. Apparently, the two owners, Dave Kuban and Carlos Gonzales, were preparing for the restaurant’s morning rush when they saw a heartwarming scene.

“We just saw him hugging her for, I don’t know, I want to say five minutes if that. But it was a real hug,” Carlos said in an interview on News 12.

According to the report, the Good Samaritan also gave cash to the young lady.

Inspired by what he witnessed, Dave took pictures and shared the story on social media. He also wanted to know who the kind garbage man was to treat him to a free lunch in their deli.

“We wanted to show him we appreciate him doing something like that. We need that in the world today,” Carlos remarked.

Finally, they were able to find the Good Samaritan. His name is Mike Nance, and he works at WIN Waste Innovations.

Then in an interview, Mike detailed what happened that Thursday morning.

“Anytime you see somebody walking around with everything that they own, talking to themselves—I don’t know. It just took over me,” the Good Samaritan said.

Mike comforted and encouraged her. He also gave her cash and went out of his way to bless the young woman.

“So I hugged her. I said a prayer, and that was it,” he added.

Despite the applause from people online, Mike considers his kind gesture nothing special.

“I don’t really know how to feel about that. I’m a garbage man,” he explained. “We’re about the community. I’m about the community. I love Norwalk. I’m from Norwalk. I was born here. So whatever I can do to help, that’s what I’m going to do.”

Soon after, Dave and Carlos invited the young woman for a free meal as well. It made Mike happy when he found out about it.

Every person is fighting a battle we know nothing about. May we be kind at all times and extend grace and love to everyone we meet, just like Christ. Who knows, you may be that person’s last ray of hope.

Author James Goll shares how he found a breakthrough after his battle against cancer and after losing his wife because of cancer.

In an episode of Equipping The Saints with Che Ahn, the Director of Prayer Storm, James Goll, shared about his process of healing from tough times. He shared how he fought for his breakthrough and how God gave him the comfort he needed.

“Most breakthrough that comes and you’re able to maintain is when you actually fight for it,” James shared.

The process

The process is as important as the end goal. During the process of our healing and breakthrough, we get to experience how God moves in our lives and we get to know the purpose of the promise.

“Understanding that the process is as important as the promise,” he emphasized. “We often see the big download or the big breakthrough, the promise as the end-goal. But we can see that there’s as much or even more of the purpose of God in the process of becoming.”

Breakthrough

After his painful experience of losing his wife and his own battle with cancer, he let the Holy Spirit bring healing into his heart and even his thoughts. That was when he started to see new hope in his life.

“I have had the Holy Spirit bring me healing in my thought life, in my memories,” James recalled. “Then I started doing things intentionally that would develop new patterns of hope.”

Comfort

James then ended his message by assuring the viewers that God’s comfort during these tough times will be upon us. There will be breakthroughs after this storm.

“We each go through difficult times, I know that the God of all comfort will comfort you to help you turn around and give that same comfort.”

Baristas Extend Comfort And Prayer To Grieved Customer Through Drive-Thru Window

Two baristas from Vancouver, Washington do not only deliver coffee to their customers, but also offer prayer and comfort when needed. As they extended their hand to grieved customers, little did they know that their acts of kindness would impact many. One customer in line took a photo of their kindness in action and it has gone viral.

Barbara Dunner posted on Facebook the moving picture in 2016. “Snapped this picture while waiting in line at the Dutch Bros on 138^th Avenue.. Turns out the young lady in line ahead of us lost her 37-year-old husband last night. When the DB guys and gals noticed she was falling apart, they stopped everything and prayed with her for several minutes,” she captioned. “[They] invited her to come back for prayer and support, as well as anything else that she might need.”

Police Officers Pray Together For Fellow Officer Affected By COVID-19

Alisha Wisbey had recently lost her husband due to heart disease. She was already in tears while in line. The couple were regular customers in the store. As one female worker asked about her husband, she then broke down and cried.

Pierce Dunn and Evan Freeman were two of the coffee stand workers at the time. When the female worker told them about Alisha’s situation, they immediately do what they always do every time there’s someone in pain or hurt. “We’re going to give them our love,” they said.

Today, Alisha is reminded of their act of kindness and still gets emotional over it. “Something spiritual or something beautiful like that, you can’t always see it, at that moment. But I can now because I have a picture and it’s another way I can remember him (her husband),” she said. “They wanted to let me know that I’m not alone and they feel my pain,”she explained. And that no matter what faith you are, what color you are, who you are, other people can feel your pain and they’re there for you.”

“If every single person did an act of kindness or just had a smile on their face, the world would be a completely different place,” Dunn said.
