Your Small Seeds Of Consistency Matter

It can be far too simple to forget the longevity of our lives. The seeds of consistency sown when we show up, day after day, might seem small, but the bible tells us they matter. It’s these seeds that build our destiny and futures.

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. ⁸Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. ⁹Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:7-9)

Seeds of consistency build and grow

Knowing this, I have to ask: what seeds of consistency are you planting? They matter to Jesus. Maybe they are midnight prayers, focusing on God to get through insomnia or anxiety. Or maybe your seeds are the few dollars each week you spare to save for the house you’re dreaming to buy. Possibly your seeds are those of faith: believing for someone you love’s salvation, or for a miraculous healing. Your sowing, day after day, makes an impact. With each prayer, you are partnering with heaven. You are remembering the life ahead of you, setting your heart to the future in front of you.

Sowing from the Spirit, not the flesh

It’s not about the size of your seed, but more-so the heart behind it. Like Jesus tells the disciples in Matthew, they lacked the faith to see the miraculous happen. They couldn’t drive our the unclean spirit because of their little faith. It takes the Holy Spirit to lead us into faith that isn’t of our flesh. We know we cannot see the miraculous in our own doing. It’s because of Him.

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)

Consistency In Your Life Brings Freedom

Words like routine, consistency, and discipline can trigger different emotions in us. For some, they might bring up inadequacy and feeling like they are never doing “enough”. For others, they may be of a source of worthiness.

Consistency of life with the Lord should be the most freeing experience. As we are transformed by the Lord’s love and plans for our lives, developing a way of living that best supports and brings us into our purpose is vital. Whether this is prioritizing our health, loving our families well, or having the self-control to say no to that which is not aligning us with God’s will for our lives, it all begins with consistent daily routines.

Ways to Develop Routines in Your Life:

Start small! If you know that you want to get your health in order, create an evening routine that supports getting enough sleep. Once you have set this new habit, choose the next, and move forward from there. Trying to do it all at once could lead you to be overwhelmed. Remember that there is no shame in small beginnings.

Pair habits that are already in your routine with one that you are wanting to do more consistently. For example, brushing your teeth in the morning. Set out to meditate on a specific scripture while you brush. Your mind will associate them with one another, prompting you to repeat the next time you brush. Soon you’ll find your constantly speaking scripture over yourself at the bathroom counter.

Let Thankfulness Motivate You

As you set out for consistency in your days, thank God for how He has designed your mind to re-wire and develop. Remember that you are not stagnant to one way of living, and can always try new ways. Consistency with God brings peace of mind. It teaches our bodies how to live and function well. You were made for the freedom of healthy routines with God.

Relationship And The Importance Of Consistency

Consistency. A word that can trigger emotions.

I’m currently going through a change right now. In fact, I’m transitioning back into an atmosphere I once desperately needed to get out of. You see, change can be scary at times but sometimes it’s exactly what you need. Not everyone is opposed to the idea, but as I said before, the concept can be triggering to some.

Change

I remember growing up and change was something I knew quite well. My family was constantly on the move and new schools never felt long-term. I had no idea that laying down roots was crucial for a solid foundation. Leaders, friends, and familiar faces all go hand in hand with this idea. I had no idea how to do relationship with the people around me because truth is, I was never in a place long enough to try it. It wasn’t until I voluntarily left my hometown in San Diego after being there for a few years that I knew I was yearning for something more than just roots.

Consistency

Consistency. I had never lived out the true meaning of consistency. I went to ministry school up North and remember learning about pursuit. The pursuit of Jesus is something that never grows weary. He’s always consistent. I realized that Jesus was my true source of consistency. When it came to relationship between my family and me, and to my friends. In order to have relationship, consistency has to be part of the equation. I was desperate for relationship and because I never knew consistency, I faced challenges. Well, I have good news for you. Jesus is constant and He’s never-ending. If you get relationship with Jesus right, everything else flows into place.

Change can be scary. Consistency can be challenging. But, God is good and He chooses you. He’s constant and never grows weary. Choose Jesus today and watch the creator of relationship choose you.

1 Corinthians 15:58, “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
