Onslaught: 7 Ways You Can Be Spiritually Attacked

In spiritual warfare circles, we love Deuteronomy 28:7: “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you; they will come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.” It is not just an attack, but an onslaught.

I can just hear some of you saying “amen” right now. But what if the devil isn’t coming at you just one way? What if he’s coming at you seven ways from Sunday in an onslaught that’s touching just about every area of your life and working overtime on your mind? Or what if the good fight of faith doesn’t seem so good at the moment?

What if you’ve done all you can do and you’ve been standing and withstanding, but feel like you can’t stand much longer? And what if you’ve resisted the devil and submitted yourself to God, but the enemy is just not fleeing? What if you have repented for any open doors, confessed the Word of God, decreed, declared, pushed back the darkness, exercised the binding and loosing keys of the Kingdom, commanded the enemy to cease and desist operations, praised your way through and you are still not breaking through?

Recognizing the Onslaught

Before you can conquer an onslaught, you have to discern it. It sounds simple, but it’s not always intuitive. Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary defines “onslaught” as an attack; an onset; a furious or murderous assault; a bloody fray or battle. Merriam-Webster goes further and calls out “a violent attack; an especially fierce attack. It’s a blitz, a charge, a raid, rush, and strike.

So again, what do you do when the onslaught is manifesting and you’ve done everything you know to do and none of it makes a lick of difference? What do you do when your shield of faith is getting too heavy to lift up, you’ve kicked off your shoes of peace and your sword of the Spirit seems too dull to cut through the witchcraft? What do you do when one isn’t putting a thousand to flight and two isn’t putting 10,000 to flight?

Once you’ve recognized the onslaught for what it is, you first have to refuse to tap into the spirit of fear that comes with an attack. Second, you have to stop looking at the onslaught, stop thinking about the onslaught, stop talking about the onslaught and look at the Lord instead. Proverbs 3:25-26 (NASB) displays this truth: “Do not be afraid of sudden fear nor of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes; For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.”

Paul’s Strategic Advice

Paul the apostle was no stranger to the enemy’s onslaught. Five times he was flogged with 39 lashes. Three times he was beaten with rods. He was stoned once and shipwrecked thrice. During his journey, he was often in danger from deep waters and robbers; he was often in danger in the city and in the wilderness, and he couldn’t even count on his own countrymen to stand with him. Paul the apostle was often sleepless, often hungry and thirsty, often cold and naked—and he still carried the burden of the church on top of it all!

Despite all of this, Paul’s advice was clear: “Do not be frightened by your adversaries. This is a sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and this from God.” (Phil. 1:28, MEV) See, Paul knew that faith in God was the only way through. He knew that trust in God’s delivering power was the only way out. He knew that fear and faith cannot coexist in the same heart. And Paul knew that God would ultimately deliver him if he just believed what God said. When Paul was on a ship that was sinking, he told his captors:

“But now I advise you to take courage, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. For there stood by me this night the angel of God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. And, look! God has given you all those who sail with you.’ Therefore, men, take courage, for I believe God that it will be exactly as it was told to me.” (Acts 27:22-25)

Refuse to Do These 3 Things

Fear came knocking at their door during the onslaught, but they refused to waiver. They refused to believe what they saw with their natural eyes, what they felt with their fickle emotions or what they heard in their imaginations. They chose to trust in God and keep pressing toward His will.

Essentially, an onslaught is the enemy coming in like a flood. So what do you do when the enemy’s onslaught is coming in seven ways? Attacking your mind, your health, your family, your finances, your physical property, your friendships, and more? You hold on to these words from Isaiah 59:19 about our Warrior Lord who is fighting for us: “So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.”

Yes, we have to repent, resist, declare, decree, command, bind, loose and stand, but ultimately the battle is the Lord’s. We can reject the subtle voices of fear that try to rob our faith. And trust Him to see us through to victory. He always leads us into victory in Christ (see 2 Cor. 2:14). Always. So keep standing.

Your Promise Shall Live, God Is Here

God’s promise will come to pass.

Mark 9:17-24 reads, “Then one of the crowds answered and said, ‘Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. And whenever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples that they should cast it out, but they could not.’ Immediately the father of the child with tears cried out, ‘Lord, I believe, but help mine unbelief.'”

Claiming it, but not Seeing it

We have entered into the decade of the mouth, and you are saying to yourself, “What God revealed, I must speak, and what I speak concerning the will of God will come to pass.” And we have progressed into the New Year, but what God said concerning your life is already being attacked, and the situation is looking dead. Now what?

Desperately Seeking Answers

Let’s set the scene. Here you have a father and mother happily blessed with this beautiful child. Imagine the excitement of the blessing. Excited to plan the baby shower, gender reveal parties, and then the hardness of the labor and feeling a final sigh of relief because he or she, has finally made it to the world. The boy probably looked just like the father, had his features, but then something happened. The boy became possessed with a devil that closed his ears and his mouth.

The Enemy Silenced My Promise

The enemy silenced one of the most potent weapons the boy possessed. The Bible says the power of life and death is in the tongue (see Proverbs 18 and 21). So nothing went in, and nothing came out. Isn’t it like some of us too? We are excited about what God has given us or even shown us. And boom. It undergoes a demonic attack and stops speaking.

The Bible says to write the vision, make it understandable. It shall speak and not faint though the vision it’s only for a while; it shall speak and not lie (see Habakkuk 2:2-3). We must understand that if the vision can talk, it can be silenced by an invasion of the enemy. There are promises, God gave you but seemingly there has been no traction or action in that area. And what you been praying for has gone silent.

The father stayed with the blessing. He did not let it go, or give up asking. He said, “Lord, I believe but help my unbelief.” Jesus asked the man, how long has he been like this? And the man answered since he was a child. Jesus understood that anything our Father in Heaven gives; it’s considered good. Jesus knew that our Father in Heaven did not curse the blessing; something happened along the way.

The Bible said that the spirit threw his son in the fire and into the water, trying to kill him. These are known as failed attempts. The Enemy tried to kill, the man’s promise. But the enemy can’t kill what God has ordained to live!

The Bystanders

Have you ever heard someone say, “Girrrrrrl or Mannnn that situation is dead? You might as well do something else.” They make an evaluation based on what they see and not what the Lord has determined.

I love how Jesus waited until an audience was present. I am reminded of the Bible verse, “preparest a table in the presence of thine enemies.” (Psalm 23:5)

Situations will arise in our lives. We must believe that Jesus has already visited them. To the bystander, and those on the outside looking in, it will appear dead.

But let me encourage you. The Bible says, “Jesus took him by the hand lifted him, and he arose.” Where the spirit of the Lord is life is present (see 2 Corinthians 3:17). So it may look dead and appear as if there is no hope, but be encouraged, Jesus is present and already working it out!

Promise: Final Words

God is already in the situation! The Lord revealed that sometimes the promise, and the prophetic word, undergo an attack and will seem to stop talking and responding to you even though you’ve been decreeing, and declaring it, and seeking manifestation. The Lord said IT’S NOT DEAD; it only rested for an appointed time. It’s about to SUDDENLY AND DRASTICALLY RISE! This is the decade of the mouth and what God has shown you, and what you have decreed and declared concerning the promise will surely come to pass!

Muslim Family Tortured by ‘Demonic Bat Creatures,’

MELBOURNE, Australia – According to the latest census, the Muslim population in Australia has soared to more than 600,000 people making Islam the most popular and fastest-growing non-Christian religion in the country.

While extreme Islamization does pose a threat to Australian society, some Muslims “down under” have made decisions to leave their religion and embrace Christianity instead.

We hear of many stories all around the world of Muslims converting to Christianity through dreams and visions. In Australia, CBN News met a Muslim man whose family was tormented by the devil until he experienced a supernatural encounter with Jesus.

Ismail was a Turkish Muslim. He migrated to Australia when he was 19. Although he practiced Islam, he considered himself a moderate Muslim because he always had questions about God and Islam.

He said he wanted to know who God was and the unknown about God. He was curious about the spiritual realm and wondered if witchcraft was from God or the devil.

In his search for answers, Ismail got involved with the occult not knowing that he opened himself to demonic spirits. He met a Turkish Muslim who called spirits using the Ouija board and a coffee cup. Ismail continued this activity with the spirit world until the manifestations of the devil became more and more frightening.

He told CBN News about his encounter with demons.

“I was making coffee. I was stirring the coffee and when I looked inside, I saw this creature live on the coffee, looking at me, behind me, hanging on the curtain. They were kind of human demonic bat kinda looking creatures; real long fingernails. And every time they were flapping their wings, there was smoke coming out of them. On the last day when actually I was leaving my friend’s house, he said, ‘Look, two of them are going with you!’”

For four years, Ismail’s two sons were tormented by these demons.

According to Ismail, they drew sketches of the creatures with red eyes.

“They came to our bed and they started shaking. My kid, he was on the bed and he was throwing fists. He was sitting on his bed and screaming, 10, 15, 20 minutes, I can’t remember. We couldn’t wake him up. I lay him down flat and I said, ‘What’s happening?’ He’s still there, still didn’t wake up. I freaked out.”

Ismail tried everything and prayed to Allah and the prophets but nothing worked. Out of his frustration, he sought the help of an Iranian Christian friend who brought him to a Bible study. There, he surrendered his life to Jesus and experienced a supernatural encounter.

“I’m seeing this figure, He’s holding his hands up like this towards me. I could tell he was smiling. All I was seeing was this light coming from everywhere. It was just amazing. And actually, I have fallen in love with Him. That’s how I converted.”

The pastor instructed Ismail to pray for two weeks, commanding the demons to leave their home.

Ismail said, “Every night I was praying. I was saying, ‘In the Name of Jesus Christ, you have no authority here. You demons leave in Jesus Name!’”

As a result, his children stopped having nightmares. Since then, Ismail hungered for the Word and began reading the Bible. He compared what the Bible said with the teachings of the Qur’an.

Ismail explained, “There’s nowhere in the book, nobody can find anywhere where Allah says, if you do this you will go to heaven. There is only one way and that is if you get murdered in the way of jihad. I now know the truth. Jesus is as real as you and me. He has created us. And only through His blood, can we come to God the Father. And He is an amazing, compassionate, graceful, forgiving God.”

Jesus is the healer and deliverer of ALL people. ALL religions. ALL races. Every single one of us. He loves the Muslims just as much as he loves any one of His children and He died for them to be set free, too!

This is not just a story of grace, it’s a story of Jesus’ character and who He is.
