Texas coal mine worker is working double duty to save hundred of unwanted pets saying. “God has put us in charge of his animals.”
Texas coal mine worker
John Liscano from Mexia, Texas is on a mission to save God’s creation by adopting unwanted and abused pets. He works at a coal mine 30 minutes away from their home and starts his work every day at 3:45 in the morning. After his 12-hour shift, his day is not yet over as he needs to tend to hundreds of his adopted dogs and cats.
The former Limestone Deputy Sheriff takes care of unwanted pets that are surrendered to his 12-acre rescue area named Lara’s House. John believes that it is our responsibility and calling to love and care for the creation of the Lord.
“God has given us these animals to take care of and love,” said John. “The last thing we want to do is turn people away, which sadly we have been doing for quite some time now.”
Saves unwanted pets
Every day, he receives calls, emails, and text messages from people in their community that beg them to adopt an animal. Some of these pets are unwanted pets, abandoned, strays, and some were even abused.
“I do this because I love animals and I can’t stand to see them suffer. We as people truly don’t deserve them. They have no defense. No voice and all they ask for in return is love,” he said.
Lara’s House keeps their rescues in outdoor kennels. Currently, they now have more than 100 cats and dogs that are waiting to be adopted. Despite having a lack of funds, they still kept their faith because they know it was what God wanted them to do.
“God puts us in charge of His animals and that’s what we are here to do. Like I tell the board members, just keep the faith.”
