The impact of bullying
The little boy from Brisbane, Australia recently made the headlines after his heartbreaking video went viral. On the video posted to Facebook by his mother Yarraka Bayles. In the video Quaden was seen crying while begging to end his life. The video was taken after Yarraka fetched Quaden from the school where he had been bullied.
“Give me a knife, I want to kill myself,” Quaden said on the disturbing video.
He had been bullied before. Really Quaden has always experienced bullying, even when he was younger. When he was just four, he made an appearance on Australian TV to raise awareness about dwarfism and bullying.
“Every day in public can become quite challenging,” Yarraka said on national television. “It’s not all the time, there are some really lovely people out there that show their support. But you’re always going to get the odd one that tries to point his differences out.”
Love and support
An outpouring of love came flooding in as a result of the the video. Celebrities rallied and raised funds to send Quaden Bayles to Disneyland to lift the young boy’s spirit. On Saturday, Quaden led out the National Rugby League’s Indigenous All-Star team during the exhibition match against New Zealand Maoris.
“We’re here to support you, bud,” said Latrell Mitchell the team captain.
This is the painful reality of what bullying does to young children. Let’s see this be a wake-up call to love like Jesus did!
