On the evening of April 19, “American Idol” aired a special episode for their 19th season. It was called a “Comeback” episode and it unveiled a huge twist on the show. As the season approached its Top 10, a slot was left open for some of the contestants from season 18.
Ten contestants from the previous season received a second chance to return and compete for a spot on the Top 10. The twist was to make up for their season in spring 2020 was suspended due to the pandemic.
Instead of performing on the “American Idol” stage, they were left with no choice but to perform in their living room in front of their iPhones and ring lights as the show has to continue virtually.
