Jesus Is Present In The Storm

Life is definitely NOT always unicorns, and rainbows, and gourmet truffles. Sometimes life is just a cesspool of pain, and injustice, and heartbreak. In those times our heart wrenches with the thought, “WHERE IS GOD?”

He’s right there. In the pain and the injustice and heartbreak, He is standing nearby. The problem is we can NOT always see Him there. This will completely and utterly come down to trust. Either we believe God is who He says He is – good Father, Father to the fatherless, defender of the widow, shelter from the storm – or, He is not.

And He IS who He says He is.

Just stop and do nothing. Take a minute and just be present in your storm, in your mud hole, in your dungeon. Just take one minute to let Jesus show up.

He comes to the deepest reservoir of your broken soul – He comes to those who cry out to Him. He would NEVER walk by someone who is desperately reaching out to His hand. We just are so consumed by our pain that we don’t see Him. Or we expect Him to show up in the way we think we need or want. All I know for sure, is He WILL show up.

I have had multiple life experiences that were soul crushing, destructive, and the goal from the dark side was definitely to take me out. If we are gone, we have no voice – no story – nothing to share with others to stop THEIR pain. I always say that the “don’t give up” part of me, is just in my DNA. I don’t claim an ounce of credit for this. It is something in me that just will not let me “check out” or give up. Oh, I want to sometimes – I entertain the dark thought of “I’m done! I can’t do this anymore.”

And then. Jesus.

He just shows up. I scream out His name from the deepest darkest suffocating corner of my heart – JESUS! And, I just know He is there.

Nothing changes right away; the storm rages on; the pain is still crippling; the injustice is still mocking my name; the heartbreak is still overwhelming. BUT just that fast when He shows up inside of me, I feel something I can hardly explain. I feel peace. Peace IN the storm; peace IN the pain; peace IN the injustice; peace IN the heartbreak. This peace sustains my weary soul, holds my heart together, silences my fears, shuts the mouth of the accusing voices, and I can rest – literally – I rest in WHO JESUS IS.

I have learned this the hard way. Let me explain.

I went through a very dark time. I knew what to do – I knew to pray and read the Word, and let others minister to me. I just couldn’t. I just disappeared into my darkness. I allowed myself to listen to the lies and I agreed with them. I allowed myself to entertain the enemy of my soul. He lies with truth (what?). Yes. He takes things that are true, and uses them against you. “You failed. THIS is true. So he shows up and reminds you that you indeed failed. THEN he goes further with the LIES of – you are worthless/you screwed it all up/you don’t deserve to even be alive. So, yes in essence – it is truth told in lies. Jesus would never mock you or condemn you or lie to you. Ever.

Satan is called THE FATHER OF LIES. Remember that. His only goal is to destroy you through his lies. He is NOT a good, good father!

When you find yourself in the dark night of the soul, and the voices are screaming and the darkness is suffocating – cry out to Jesus. And then, trust that He has heard you; trust that no matter what lies you have heard or even believed, that HE is on your side.

The truth is THIS…

…you are loved, you are valued; you are NOT hopeless; you are NOT a failure; you are NOT unredeemable; you are NOT unfixable; your family is NOT unfixable. NOTHING is impossible in the loving hands of the God who loves you relentlessly.

When I “got nothin”- I know I got God. And that is enough – with or without visible answers or changes.

“That day when evening came, He said to His disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as He was, in the boat. There were also other boats with Him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Peace! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to His disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” (Mark 4:35-41)

I am safe in His arms. I will stay in the boat. And there I will rest until He speaks to the storm – “Peace. Be still.”

Actress, Patricia Heaton Criticizes Journalists For Their Insults Of Pro-Life Students

This last weekend there were numerous political rallies and assemblies in Washington, D.C. Among them was a historic gathering for March for Life that a group of high school students from Covington High School from Park Hills, Kentucky were part of.

By now you have probably seen the viral video footage that journalists first ran with. But after the initial outcry longer videos were released showing the full context behind the photos. It seemed that mainstream media were mischaracterizing the students. And lets remember, these are high school students and not adults. Adults were demeaning and hurling insults to the underage students, trying to bait them into negative political rhetoric.

Fox News said, “The subsequent video footage revealed that the students were accosted and yelled at before Phillips and other Native American activists approached them. Another group, the “Black Hebrew Israelites”, were heard shouting abuse at the students for wearing ‘Make America Great Again’ hats.” No one should be shocked that the Black Hebrew Israelites were hurling racist insults, because of their anti-Semitism and erroneous understanding of Scripture.

With the full scope and truth coming forward from this event, some of the journalists previously rushing to judgment are issuing retractions.

Patricia Heaton Jumps Into the Conversation

On Monday, actress Patricia Heaton best known for ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, and a Christian pro-life advocate, jumped into the conversation. Tre Goins-Phillips of Faithwire said, “In a series of tweets, Heaton noted she’s seen ‘sincere apologies’ from journalists who jumped the gun in their reporting about Sandmann and Phillips, but argued apologies without some sort of disciplinary action seem insufficient.”

Patricia is correct in saying that the media frenzy which took place could have negative consequences for a very long time. Reports are saying that the students and their families are receiving death threats.

Mainstream Media Sharing False Stories, Pandering and Lacking Accountability

It seems that there is little to no accountability for the false reporting that caused a massive stir across the country. Everyone watching the first short clip the media ran with which demonized the minors could feel the negativity. But now the truth of the complex situation is emerging with the full scene of what happened.

Why do some media outlets still run with the false story, pandering their biased opinions to the masses? The answer is, because controversy and hysteria sells. Patricia says:

Is the Face of Reason and Honesty in America A Kid?

Nick Sandmann, a junior at Covington Catholic High School, caught in the center of the controversy spoke out on Sunday. In his statement he claims a group of African American protesters were taunting the students.

He said he was “mortified that so many people have come to believe something that did not happen — that students from my school were chanting or acting in a racist fashion toward African Americans or Native Americans.”

“I did not do that, do not have hateful feelings in my heart and did not witness any of my classmates doing that,” he added.

We Can Do Better Than This

America, we are better than this. No matter what your political opinions and persuasion are, let’s be adults. You don’t agree with someone else’s opinion? That’s okay. We can still be friendly dialoguing about it. If you’re angry about what is going on in DC, exercise your right to free speech wth respect towards others. And always get the full context of the news. A 1-minute video or sound-byte rarely gives the full picture.

Also, if kids or teenagers are present during your rallies, help give them a different perspective. Try educating them. That’s why they are nearby, observing and learning, trying to figure life out. Don’t try to exploit them or hurl insults at them. Hate never wins. Christ-like love and compassion wins.

Filmmaker, Gordon Robertson Says In Our Hands Proves the Existence of God

As Israel celebrates its 70th Anniversary in 2018 it continues to fight many enemies. The nation’s existence has been threatened from its inception but Israel has won many battles over the years including its unlikely victory in the Six-Day War that restored Jerusalem as its capital. For many Christians including CBN’s Gordon Robertson this shows the Hand of God at work in support of the Jewish People.

“In Our Hands: The Battle for Jerusalem,” is a docudrama that recounts the historic Six-Day War, telling the story behind the formation of modern-day Israel in a way we have never seen before. The film, which was produced by CBN Documentaries, tells the story of the conflict between Israel and her neighbors that unfolded from June 5–10, 1967 — a battle that involved Egypt, Jordan, and Syria.

Last year was the 50th anniversary of the Six-Day War and with Middle Eastern affairs continuing to dominate headlines, it’s important that we understand Israel’s role in Bible prophecy. “For centuries, their nation had been in exile. For a generation, they had been without access to their ancestral city,” a description of the film reads. “For six days, surrounded by enemies, Israel stood alone … and changed history.”

Gordon Robertson, CEO of the Christian Broadcasting Network, told Faithwire that he has two key hopes surrounding the movie’s impact: for the film to point people toward God and to start a conversation about Middle Eastern foreign policy. “If you want to prove the existence of God, look to Israel,” he said. “The number of prophecies of the return of the Jews to the land and the restoration of the land … how children will once again play in the street of Jerusalem … all of these prophecies were fulfilled either in 1948 or 1967.”

Gordon also said that he hopes to spark a conversation about Israel’s role in foreign affairs, noting that Israeli culture has survived thousands of years, with 2,000 of those years unfolding with the Jews outside of their homeland. “That in and of itself is a miracle,” he said. “[I want to] start a conversation about current foreign policy regarding the Middle East and the need for the world to recognize that Jerusalem is the eternal, undivided capital of Israel.”

Gordon discussed President Donald Trump’s pledge to recognize Jerusalem as the capital, which is now coming to fruition. The location of the US embassy in Israel, which is currently in Tel Aviv, has long been a point of contention. However the US plans to open its embassy in Jerusalem in time for Israel’s 70th Anniversary in May 2018.

Israel considers Jerusalem its capital, while Palestine also envisions the city being the capital of its own prospective future state. The USA passed a law in 1995 calling for its embassy to be moved to Jerusalem. The past three presidents enacted waivers to delay the move, citing security concerns, however President Trump has given the go-ahead.

In Our Hands: Soldiers Scene

 

Gordon told Faithwire that the impetus for his interest in creating the In Our Hands docudrama dates back decades to his father, Pat Robertson, sitting the family down to show them where the Bible prophesied that Israel would recapture Jerusalem.

He said he went to the Western Wall himself back in 1969 to pray and saw firsthand the joy that the Jewish people were experiencing after taking back Jerusalem. That’s a tradition that he has carried on with his own children. “Each of my children, when they turn 12, I’ve take them to Jerusalem,” he said. “We’ve pray together at the Western Wall and I baptize them in the Jordan River.”

Gordon shared the path to bring the Six-Day War story to the big screen, explaining that he and his team spoke to the actual soldiers who fought in the battle and integrated their stories into the film. But they didn’t stop there, taking other steps to integrate real-life circumstances into the docudrama.

“All the dialogue in the movie is based on either the recollections of the soldiers or what they wrote down in their diaries,” he said. “We didn’t invent any dialogue in the film.” In the end, Gordon believes In Our Hands offers something that can truly enrich the understanding of its viewers. “You’ll get the history of the Six-Day War from the point of view of the men who fought the war,” he said.
