A 105-year-old farmer in Minnesota credits God for his success and long life and has words of wisdom and advice to share with the people.
105-Year-Old Beet Farmer
Earl Mallinger is a farmer who owns a 1000-acre beet farm called “Crystal Sugar.” His farm has served and fed many people with its crops for decades. And in an interview with ABC News, the oldest beet farmer shared his secret to success and long life.
The centenarian encouraged never to quit in whatever obstacles one may face in life.
“Keep moving,” he said. “Once you, once you quit moving, you go downhill pretty fast.”
Further, Earl is grateful for his farm business because it helped him have a healthy lifestyle for generations. Because of his job, he often gets to breathe fresh air and exercise on the field. Hence, his active lifestyle resulted in a healthy body.
“I like the fresh air for one thing,” Earl explained. “And I like to see the crops grow and see what God has done. A fella has to have a lot of faith when you have a little seed and you get a crop like this.”
The Secret To Success
Today, the “Crystal Sugar” farm owner no longer works on the field but is still managing everything in the business. And he advises every young and new farmer “to work hard and always keep God at the center of life.” And above all, Earl credits God for all the blessings he received in his life.
“If you didn’t inherit land from your parents, start small,” the 105-year-old said. “Work hard and don’t spend too much money and you’ll be successful. Remember that God is in control. You have got to have Him with you. Also, don’t forget to stop and smell the roses. I didn’t work much on Sundays and I still made a good living.”
In the end, Earl concluded his message by urging people to “be humble.” Because “with the help of God, you don’t have to worry.”
