I want to challenge you today. I’m challenging myself in challenging you with this, because you know, here we go, you ready? Jesus did miracles and you and I are called to do the same. We’re called to be like Him. And I want to confront us today with this challenge: Are miracles happening through your life? We’re not the ones that make them happen, but they should be happening through our lives.
The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you and I. The hope of glory is Christ in you and I. Think about that. The hope of glory is Christ in you. God took His hope, that He would be glorified in the earth and put it in you through Christ. And He put it in me through Christ. He could have come up with a better plan than you and I, but He wanted a relationship. He wanted to partner with us. And the hope of God being glorified is Christ in you and Christ in me. That’s crazy. But you know what? As a daughter, and, you know, as sons and daughters, don’t we want to give Him His full reward? Don’t we want to see heaven established on the earth? I know what convicts me is like, Jesus is like the best thing that’s ever happened to me. The Word of God, the truth that sets me free, the powerful weapons of forgiveness, and grace, and faith, and supernatural access to the Holy Spirit. It’s radically changed my life. My life is so much better with the Holy Spirit. And even if everything else is wrong, I have Him. I’m not abandoned, I’m not forsaken. I’ve got Him. Right? Amen?
But why do I not share Him and step out and do the things He’s empowered us and called us to do? Why don’t I do that? I have to look at what’s in my heart. Am I afraid? Do I have fear of man? Am I too focused on me? There’s so many different reasons, but I want to challenge us today, that Jesus did miracles and what we’re called to go make disciples. We’re called to lay hands on the sick and they will recover. We’re called to be His witnesses to Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth. That is so easy today with media. We’re called to be like Jesus, and He had miracle signs and wonders flowing through His life, and we’ve got to stop making it about us and start making it about Him.
And I know this is a little bit of a strong word, but you know, He has plans for our lives to prosper us and to give us a hope and a future, and this into live naturally supernatural, and to have abundant life. And so, what is my disobedience to those truths? When I hold back, when I don’t preach the gospel, when I don’t share.
When you say something like, “Preach the gospel,” it can sound like I need a microphone and a stage and a platform. No, I just need to go to the grocery store and tell the guy, checking me out, “Jesus loves you and has a plan for your life.” I can do that. I can open my mouth. I just said it to you. You know, the fact that people hearing that somebody loves them, that can radically change their lives. And who cares if they get mad at me. He’s changed mine. I know it’s true. Amen?
And so I just pray over you and me today that we would be convicted. We would be reminded of the great price that’s been paid for us, and of the amazing freedom, and love, and peace, and joy, and grace that we have access to and through Jesus. And that we would share that with other people, and that we would pray for the sick. And that we would not try to figure out if we’re qualified, we’d just obey the word. It says, “Lay hands on the sick and they will recover,” “Be healed.” We’ll pray like Jesus; they’re short and powerful.
And so I bless you to step out of the boat. You know, Peter walked on water and we talk about him walking on water, but Peter’s only responsibility in that was to step out of the boat. He chose to believe Jesus at His word when He said “Come out.” He didn’t know how. So I just break off that you and I have to understand how, and that we would step out, open our mouths, pray for the sick, share the gospel, and let people encounter the One who’s changed our lives for eternity. Amen.
