A former inmate got to celebrate his wedding after finding Jesus Christ through a prison ministry.
Former inmate
Jonathan was in prison when he got engaged to his girlfriend Jacquelin on February 2011. The two got legally married in prison in April the following year but they were not able to celebrate that day. After years of waiting for the right time, they were able to finally celebrate their wedding day outside of prison.
“I’m excited, through all the obstacles that we face, nothing has deterred me from standing up there, waiting on my bride to walk down that aisle. That’s what I’m waiting on,” Jonathan said as he was preparing for the ceremony.
Gets married
He got to build a relationship with Jesus Christ behind prison bars with the help of Prison Fellowship, a prison ministry that aims to change the lives of incarcerated people by bringing them to the love of Christ.
“To be here, to celebrate this marriage, from what we started to now. It’s beautiful,” Kevin, Jonathan’s former prison mate said.
“He and his bride-to-be, have endured so many things that could have knocked them off course, but they stayed the course. To just solidify today is really a rendering of what of the loyalty that they possess and that type of strength doesn’t just come from just yourself, it comes from Someone, a greater place, from a greater power,” former inmate Eric said.
Jonathan and Jacqueline were tied as one in the name of Jesus Christ with the help of Prison Fellowship Academy.
“When you have promised yourselves to love and honor, I’m going to seal it in the name of Christ.”
