In an episode of Standing Together 2021 with Fergus Scarfe and Claire Worth, guest Gaby Wentland talked about the ugliness of human trafficking. She also urged Christians to take a step forward to fight against it.
Gaby Wentland is the founder and director of Mission Freedom, an organization that aims for a world free of slavery. She has been going around the world to teach about the truth behind human trafficking. And to encourage Christians to take part in the battle against modern-day slavery.
“In a little church of 60 people, six women came afterward towards me and they said, ‘I have been involved, I have been trafficked, I was put to the city. I have been pleading to God to somehow give me rescue and I’m hiding in this church, I’m coming every Sunday if I can.’ So it’s very close. It’s not far away,” Gaby shared.
Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is happening in multiple countries around the world. It might even be happening in our own community and our own church. This issue is real and it’s not far away from us. So as followers of Jesus Christ, we need to step up against this evil.
“I believe Jesus is in this whole thing so much. I can only encourage people to start looking for girls because you will find Jesus in the brothels. You can find Him everywhere and He is already looking for these girls. And He will give you wisdom on how to do it and how to get them out and how to help,” Gaby emphasized.
“Risk our own lives”
Gaby then firmly challenged everyone to be fearless to save somebody else’s life.
“What we need to lose as believers are our fear. I believe at this time, we are not allowed to be fearful. We should risk our own lives to save somebody else’s life because that’s what God told us. We are followers of Him, we are followers of Christ and there is no fear in living with Jesus Christ.”
