Host of GOD TV’s “It’s All Greek to Me,” Pastor Chris Demetriou shares a powerful message found in the first two verses of Psalm 91 in how people should respond amidst the global pandemic.
Psalm 91 First Two Verses
Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Church in Southwest, Chris Demetriou, guested in GOD TV’s Standing Together 2021 with Fergus Scarfe and Ian Young-Valentine. He shared a wonderful revelation people need to hear from his written booklet “He Who Dwells” on Psalm 91:1-2.
The verses read, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Dwelling In Safety
Pastor Chris shared how media reports instilled great fear the past year when the pandemic happened.
“I just felt in my heart that I should start writing about Psalm 91. Because it’s an invitation from God to dwell in safety,” he said.
God impressed Pastor Chris to focus on the first two verses of Psalm 91. So, he obeyed and broke down every phrase of the beautiful verse.
“It’s incredible how intimate, how loving, how tender, and actually how emotional those first two verses are,” he remarked.
Furthermore, the “It’s All Greek to Me” host added how Psalm 91 talks about safety and provision. He also pointed out how people used Psalm during battles.
“It has incredible power but it’s also something that is very devotional and very intimate,” he continued.
“Before you get to all the promises… you’ve gotta understand that those first two verses are not conditional. That is the state, the place that God wants you to be in, in order for all those other things to just roll out. Because God’s promises are all ‘Yes’ and ‘Amen.”
