“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
The power of praying and answered prayers
Knowing that God hears and responds to us is our lifeline. We serve a living, accessible God who desires us! Our prayers to Him matter. Prayer helps us uncover our needs and desires. When we pray, we commune with God. And in our conversations, we begin to see what it is our hearts need. What may start as a “God please just help me” prayer could finish as a “God I have fear about this situation and need your peace”. Getting from that vague to specific place all happens in our conversation with the father. Psalm 17:6 says “I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God”. We know that God hears us. We have real time access to the Holy Spirit’s input and response to us.
What are you believing for?
Currently, my husband and I are believing God to help us finish paying off our debt. I stopped praying for our debt to be gone. Instead, I have begun asking God for each small goal inside of the larger goal. Each time we pray for this goal, we have set before us the next step needed to get us just a little closer. In doing this, we are making room for God to show up in the big and the small. We see how He moved to get us there after each smaller micro goal. Worship comes from the power of praying specific prayers. Witnessing God really come through for us fills our hearts to overflow with praise for Him.
When we pray specifically, we have much more to look back on, remembering God’s goodness each step of the way.
